In dropping their second straight game, the Seahawks fall to 3-2 on the season while Albany’s record remains unblemished at 5-0. Wagner took an early 8-4 lead before Albany went on 13-0 run to seize a 17-8 lead with 11:10 remaining in the fi rst half. The 5-7 Callaway keyed the run with fi ve points for the Great Danes. Callaway would fi nish the fi rst half with 10 points as the Great Danes went into the locker room at halftime with a comfortable 33-18 lead. Albany, an athletic, up-tempo team out of the America East Conference that looks to push the ball at every advantage, forced eight Seahawk turnovers in the opening half and outscored Wagner 14-0 in points off turnovers. Conversely, the Great Danes turned the ball over just one time in the opening stanza.he teams traded baskets at the outset of the second half before the Great Danes went on a 13-6 run in building their biggest lead of the game at 50-30 with 8:28 left to play. The feisty Seahawks scrapped their way back to within 12 at 53-41 with 1:14 left following an 11-3 run aided by a pair of three-point jumpers by sophomore forward Marie- Laurence Archambault (Montreal, Quebec/ Montmorency) but it was a case of too little, too late. Archambault paced Wagner in scoring for the second this season, coming off the bench with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including a 3-of-4 effort from beyond the arc. She also added fi ve rebounds and a blocked shot in 24 minutes of playing time. Archambault was the lone Seahawk n double fi gures as Wagner’s next leading scorers were senior center Nyoto Patterson (Teaneck, NJ/Manhattan Center (NY) and junior center #Kelly Clark# (Neptune, NJ/ St. Rose) who tallied six points apiece. Wagner also had two players who recorded career highs in rebounding. Senior guard #Megan Mahoney# (Staten Island, NY/ St. Peter’s) was held to fi ve points on 1-of-9 shooting but was active on the boards, pulling down a career-high 10 rebounds along with dishing out a team-high four assists. Sophomore guard Veronick Fournier (Gatneau, Quebec/Montmorency) also registered a career high in rebounds as she grabbed seven boards. Also scoring in double fi gures on the afternoon for the Great Danes were Felicia Johnson and Ebone Henry who scored 14 and 12 points, respectively. Wagner is next in action on Thursday, December 2 when the Seahawks make the short trek to Morningside Heights to take on Columba in a 7:00 pm contest. NOTES – Today’s game marked the fi rst of six straight road games for the Great Danes. The 43 points are the least amount scored by Wagner since December 29, 2009 when the Seahawks dropped a 69-43 decision to Lehigh. Freshman forward Laura Amarose (Kirkland, Quebec/ Phillips Academy) saw the fi rst action of her career, playing three minutes.
