Nebraska has only nine players on scholarship this season, but even that is understating NU’s numbers crunch. Senior Keasha Juniors (3) Greichaly Cepero F Dorado, Puerto Rico Cannon and freshman Jamie Wendelin will both redshirt this season for medical reasons, and Greichaly Alexa Johnson F Hacienda Heights, Calif. Cepero did not join the Huskers until after the completion of her volleyball season, practicing for the first Katie Morse C Minden, Iowa time on Jan. 1. A third walk-on, Jessie Runty from Omaha, Neb., saw her first Jamie Wendelin F Gretna, Neb. action of the year in NU’s win over New Orleans after sitting out the first semester because of NCAA transfer rules.
