Sep 23, Alejandro rated it really liked it Shelves: star- warsespionagepoliticsnovelmilitaryscience-fictionmedia-tie-in. The Force is stronger in the second book! Enjoy it. This second book is better than the first one, while I still considering quite relevant and important the first book, just lacking of a climax of my taste. However, again, due that the novel was written several years before of that any happened before Episode IVso it was great to watch all the details and planning done by Timothy Zahn, the author, about the Clone Wars a The Force is stronger in the second book! Even the movies have mistakes of storyline between each other and they are just six films for now. In this second novel, of the Thrawn Trilogycontinues the Imperial efforts of stopping the territorial advance of the New Republic along with reclaiming the ones lost after the Battle of Endor. To be able to do that, Grand Admiral Thrawn is putting into motion his plan involving old but quite powerful Dreadnaughts who can make a more than fair match of Imperial Dark Force Rising and New Republic Heavy Cruisers. Meanwhile, Luke will realice that this supposed Jedi Master Dark Force Rising more than one screw in the Force. At the same time, Mara Jade will faced troubles with her current boss. New alliances will be forged but old threats will get stronger, a dark force will rise View all 12 comments. Dark Force Rising 17, Evgeny rated it really liked it Shelves: scifi. The second part of the trilogy picks up right where the previous one left. A minor battle is won by the good guys, but the war is far from over. Thrawn continues his relentless efforts to bring back the former glory of the Empire. This time his main problem is to find more fighter ships, thus the problem of the New Republic is to do anything to prevent him from getting any. The intrigues in the Republican Council do not make this task any easier. The biggest discussion point would be characters. Everybody's favorite villain Thrawn suddenly loses quite Dark Force Rising few IQ points. He was a Dark Force Rising in the first book whose machinations always brought the reactions from the New Republic people he expected and anticipated, but this time he makes one mistake after another allowing the good guys to turn practically hopeless situations into small victories. Another favorite Mara Jade has all the personality of a plastic spoon, I am sorry to say. She serves her role as Dark Force Rising generic Strong Woman kicking everybody's butt, saving desperate situations in the last moment, and being a designated badass, but this is all the praise I can give her. On the positive side, the main heroes from the movies became Dark Force Rising fleshed out. None of them feel exactly like their movie depiction, but as main good characters they can hold on their own. I really like Lando who behaves like a Dark Force Rising being. Han Solo lost his lovable rogue with a sense of humor appeal seemingly irreversibly, but his plotline is one of Dark Force Rising most interesting in the book and his acts finally began making difference. Leia ended up in an interesting situation with equally interesting alien civilization which really gave her a chance to shine. Luke is the only guy who did not impress me much with his mostly stupid decisions. He is good with a Dark Force Rising, I got to give it Dark Force Rising him. With all of the criticism above, why did I give 4 stars to the book? Because as a mindless entertainment it delivers. Even when the action involved guys protected by the plot armor I often found myself on the edge of the seat reading about a daring escape, or intense land combat. Space battles were somewhat anticlimactic, but still not boring by any means. So if you are looking for a deep meaningful read with a lot of philosophical undertones which would make you question the very meaning of life, this book is exactly the Dark Force Rising choice. If however you want to be entertained and have fun the first two books are exactly what you are looking for. View all 11 comments. Feb 25, Alex rated it it was ok Shelves: science-fictionstar-wars. Did it take me Dark Force Rising books to realise that Zahn can't write worth a damn. Ok, no, that took about 50 Dark Force Rising but these novels are apparently so important to the Star Wars expanded universe and so beloved of EU fans that I wanted to give Dark Force Rising a fair shot. I enjoyed Heir to he Empire well enough as setup, even if its characterisation was crooked and its plotting a little unadventurous. However, Dark Force Rising takes whatever potential the series may Dark Force Rising had and murders it brutally with a lightsaber Did it take me two books to realise that Zahn can't Dark Force Rising worth a damn. However, Dark Force Rising takes whatever potential the series may have had and murders it brutally with a lightsaber to the groin. Zahn doesn't know what to do with this story. At all. His attempt to be "dark" like Empire Strikes Back is quite laughable. The plot revolves around everyone in the novel trying to find a bunch of lost spaceships that are such an amazing prize because Yep, you heard that. This is Star Wars. S and Zahn invented a bunch of space ships that need smaller crew. Dark Force Rising Timothy. Anyway it all ends on a Dark note because the practically beaten remnants of the Empire are a little less beaten. Well, there's not much makes up for this faux pas. I don't particularly Dark Force Rising the old charcters in Zahn's portrayal, they're just names with a shared history that he occasionally alludes to with a choice quote "never tell me the odds" said Han. Dark Force Rising Cheers Zahn. The newer characters are flat like pancakes that don't even have jam or honey on them. Which is ridiculous. Mara Jade bores me to tears. Again, Zahn had the entire universe to fill with cool characters and Dark Force Rising creates someone who wants to kill Luke Skywalker because Dark Force Rising made her lose her job via killing the Emperor. As Emperor's Hand you'd think she'd expect this. Or have a contingency plan. Or something. You'd think she'd be badass and kill Luke on a hilarious whim. But no, Zahn makes her an incessant whinger. Not so great to read about! Talon Karrde, Yawn. A smuggler with no good dialogue Dark Force Rising - Timothy Zahn - Google книги
