Notice to river users - river closures, works, and events Notice Issued 16 July 2021 As Waterway Manager under the Marine Safety Act 2010 Parks Victoria wishes to advise the following waterway closures and activities on the Yarra River, Maribyrnong River and Victoria Harbour. July Events 2021 Saturday 17 / 18 July No events due to change in COVID restrictions Saturday 24 July 7:30 – 11:00 Victorian Sculling Association – Handicap # Open Yarra River – Cremorne Rail Bridge to VRA Landing Series Round 2 Saturday 31 July 7:30 – 11:00 Victorian Sculling Association – Head of # Open Maribyrnong River - Maribyrnong Rd Bridge to Lynches the Maribyrnong Bridge August Events 2021 Sunday 1 August 7:00am – 4:30pm Salty Single Blader # Open Maribyrnong River – Footscray rd to Canning Street Saturday 14 August 7:30 – 11:00 Victorian Sculling Association – Head of CLOSED Yarra River - The upstream edge of federation Wharf to the the Yarra River upstream edge of Hawthorn Bridge Saturday 14 August 12:00 – 15:00 Dragon boats Open Yarra River – World Trade Centre landing to Herring Island Works 2021 08 April – 30 July Marine Buoys Australia P/L Open Yarra River – Exclusion zone at Hawthorn Bridge (see appended Gazettal Notice). 29 April – 31 July Open Yarra River - Exclusion zone at Hawthorn Bridge (see appended Gazettal Notice). 28 June – 31 August Banana Alley Wharf diving and Closed Banana Alley Wharf closed for all use and purposes both on maintenance works land and in water Please note: - Abory Afloat will temporarily be moved to the north bank of Flinders Walk downstream of Evan Walker bridge and will be in situate for approximately 8 weeks (21 August 2021), infrastructure will be marked with string line buoys and lit marker buoys. - Herring Island Meander has sediment build up creating shallow waters around the Island, please proceed with caution or avoid entering if unfamiliar with the area. - There is crowd load and berthing restrictions currently in place at Leonda Landing, with 10 person crowd load limit and no berthing on the upstream 5m span of the landing. - Maribyrnong City Council as part of the Footscray Park Master Plan have installed a new floating landing upstream of Lynch’s Bridge in Footscray. Please maintain an adequate look out when navigating in this area. *All closed river events will be conditional upon publishing of an Activity Exclusion Zone Notice in the Government Gazette in accordance with section 208(2) of the Marine Safety Act 2010. For the purposes of planning and/or operations, river users may assume the river is closed unless otherwise notified, in writing, by Parks Victoria. # Event operates under a Flag System. A flag marshal will be positioned at the starting and finishing points of the course to indicate when vessels can proceed through. ## See Notice to Rivers Users All vessels in the area of activities are advised to travel with caution and to follow any directions given by Parks Victoria Officers. River traffic along these sections of river during event times may encounter delays due to congestion and are urged to maintain a courteous manner toward other river users. Federation Wharf Marine Safety Act 2010 Section 211(1)(b) NOTICE CONTROLLING NAVIGATION IN THE VICINITY OF WORKS Parks Victoria, as the declared waterway manager for the waters of the Yarra River upstream of the port waters of the Port of Melbourne, makes the following notice under section 211(1)(b)(i) of the Marine Safety Act 2010 (Vic) (the Act). For the purposes of the works activity proposed by Marine Buoys Australia Pty Ltd on behalf of Freyssinet Australia Pty Ltd for maintenance works on Hawthorn Bridge, the navigation and movement of vessels is prohibited from waters of the Yarra River as detailed below in Table 1, excluding vessels involved in the works and Parks Victoria vessels. Table 1 Hawthorn Bridge works Dates Works Activity Prohibited Waters 8 to 20 April 2021 Erect scaffold east East span of bridge: half extending 40 meters from the eastern bank, 20 meters upstream and 20 metres downstream of the bridge 21 to 30 April 2021 Erect scaffold west West span of bridge: half extending 40 meters from the western bank, 20 meters upstream and 20 metres downstream of the bridge 1 May to 14 July 2021 Bridge maintenance No closure. Both sides open 15 to 22 July 2021 Dismantle scaffold East span of bridge: east half extending 40 meters from the western bank, 20 meters upstream and 20 metres downstream of the bridge 23 to 30 July 2021 Dismantle scaffold West span of bridge: west half extending 40 meters from the eastern bank, 20 meters upstream and 20 metres downstream of the bridge The prohibited waters will be marked by lit special mark buoys and unlit stringline floats and lit warning signage on approach from both upstream and downstream. Times and dates are subject to change. Changes to times, durations or days will be advertised on Parks Victoria's website and Notice to River Users. This notice has effect from 7am on Thursday 8 April to 3pm on Friday 30 July 2021. BY ORDER OF PARKS VICTORIA Date: 31/03/21 Marine Safety Act 2010 Section 211(1)(b) NOTICE CONTROLLING NAVIGATION IN THE VICINITY OF WORKS Parks Victoria, as the declared waterway manager for the waters of the Yarra River upstream of the port waters of the Port of Melbourne, makes the following notice under section 211(1)(b)(i) of the Marine Safety Act 2010 (Vic) (the Act). For the purposes of the works activity proposed by SRG Global for strengthening works on Spencer Street Bridge, the navigation and movement of vessels is prohibited from waters of the Yarra River as detailed below in Table 1, excluding vessels involved in the works and Parks Victoria vessels. Table 1: Spencer Street Bridge works Dates Prohibited Waters Open 29 April 2021 to 31 Southern & Northern spans of Spencer St Centre span of bridge July 2021 Bridge: extending 30 meters along the bank from each the upstream and downstream drip line of the bridge, to the southern & northern bridge pylons The prohibited waters will be marked by lit flashing special mark buoys with unlit stringline floats and lit warning signage on approach from both upstream and downstream. Times and dates are subject to change. Changes to times, durations or days will be advertised on Parks Victoria's website and Notice to River Users.
