The Minister confirmed that all the above entities requested to continue applying that tax. The decree enters in force as of 2/10/2018. Projects Awards Egypt's Minister of Petroleum & Mineral Wealth has witnessed the signing of the contract for the Phosphoric Acid Complex Project in Abu Tartour in El Wadi El Gedid Mar 15, 2018 valued $ 750 million to annually produce 1 million tons of Phosphoric Acid. That was reported in the media indicating it was signed between Eng. Khaled Al Ghazali Harb, Head of El Wadi Co. for Phosphate Industries & Industries, Eng. Mohamed Hathout, Chairman of ENNPI Co., John Simon Artiga, Head of Flour Co. of the US, Technology Holder & Geologist Fikri Yousef, Undersecretary for Mineral Wealth. Worth indicating is that Abu Tartour Area& hill disposes on raw phosphate to produce phosphoric acid estimated at 1 billion tons. Projects in Pre-Tendering Phase A project revived to re-operate a reasonably sized salt export & processing complex in Beer El Abd in Sinai which has stopped working since 2011, to involve investments Jan 28, 2018 estimated at L.E. 1.5 billion. That, according to DR. M Saad, will be followed with the construction of the required factories to produce salt derivatives such as the caustic soda and the chlorine now exported in raw form. Worth reminding is that the Investors' Societies Union has held earlier a conference under the slogan Development VZV Terror in Sinai and it was attended by Mz. Dr. Hala El Said, Minister of Planning & Follow up, also by General Mohamed El Zamallout, Governor of El Wadi El Gedid a.o. That was Feb 17, 2018 reported in the media indicating the Minister of Transport, Dr. Eng. Hesham Arafat, has committed to solve the problem in the next few days after repeated claims were received from contractors involved in executing the National Roads Project. On his side another claim of bitumin shortage was expressed by Eng. Ali El Sayyad, Chairman of the Nile Co. for Roads Construction who indicated his company owns about 26 concrete mixers requiring thousands of tons of bitumin monthly & is suffering from its shortage on the market. That reported in the media quoting Mr. Mohamed Yousef, Executive Director of EBA - Egyptian Businessmen Association, marking the development as a positive message on Egypt's improving investment climate considering that market value of the Norwegian Fund's investment world wide exceeds at present $ 1 trillion. Mr. Yousef has revealed that most important fields of bilateral cooperation between both countries includes the oil, gas and energy sectors, maritime transport, vessels building, also fish farming & fish wealth development. As regards major Egyptian exports to Norway so they include fruits, particularly grapes, dates, and citrus. Good chances exist to export roses, flower, furniture, garments, footwear, chemicals, ceramics and craftsmanship. Egyptian food exports during February 2018 recording 13 % increase up from their level during the same month of 2017. That was revealed from data of the National Mar 22, 2018 Food Exports Council indicating they have reached in February 2018 about $ 231 million up from $ 204 million during the same month of 2016. The figure for the first two months together of the year totaled $ 447 million marking 9 % increase above their level during the same months of 2017. Executives at the Council predicted Saudi Arabia to become a major recipient of Egyptian food exports to the area in the next stage. Interesting was the fact that Egyptian food exports to Saudi Arabia during those two months totaled $ 21 million followed by Jordan with $ 11 million, by Algeria with $ 10 million, by Yemen with $ 9.8 million, also by UAE & Iraq with $ 9.7 million each. That should encourage exporters to improve on quality & packaging.
