Documents: ERNA SOP ( www.erna.ee ) Time zone : CHARLIE 1. SITUATION a. General (1) ERNA 2007 takes place at the traditional time in the beginning of August. Participates ca 30 teams, half of them from foreign countries. b. Legend (1) Enemy forces From XX XXXX JUL07 the enemy forces (ENEMY FORCES; ENFOR) is controlling most of the area of SINIMAA (see ANNEX C) which is the area of responsibility of own forces (FRIENDLY FORCES, FRIENFOR) recon company (RECCOY) ENFOR reinforced company-size motorised recon unit which can get support fro air by recon and battle helicopters is deployed in the strongholds. In the area (bigger roads, settlements) there is constant patrolling done by up to platoon-size (recon)units with the likely task to discover FRIENFOR units (ERNA teams) ja take prisoners or eliminate the enemy (collect teams’ capture-slips, physical contact is not allowed). In key terrain then enemy has set up hidden and camouflaged observation posts. Night-vision devices are used, especially in air surveillance. The enemy gets help from „fifth column” who collects and relays information to ENFOR and may set up fixed and/or mobile patrols to observe bigger roads and settlements. Armed groups deserted from ENFOR units and hiding in the woods have been reported. 1 (4) ERNA 2007 UNCLASSIFIED ERNA 2007 UNCLASSIFIED The enemy is estimated to become active in the landing area of friendly forces in SALMISTU (public show) and south from TALLINN-NARVA (1, E20) road and west from TALLINN-TARTU (2) road, including activities of recon helicopters especially at night. To prevent the beach landing to happen the enemy might use fighter helicopters. The enemy uses anti- infantry as well as antitank minefields. (2) Own forces (FRIENDLY FORCES, FRIENFOR) SINIMAA armed forces have been regrouping after active conflicts with the invaded enemy (ENFOR) using the break caused by stopping of enemy attack. Our forces are defending the line TABASALU-LAAGRI-SAKU- KOHILA-RAPLA. On the west coast of SINIMAA preparations are made in ports and airports to receive additional treaty forces whose arrival is planned not before 12AUG2007. (a) FRIENFOR task force organization 1) RECCOY 4-member recon groups (ERNA 2007 teams). 2) ERNA 2007 search and rescue teams (SAR, deployment area and times are given in OPORD) and medical services. 3) ERNA 2007 check point staff and umpires deployed in the area. c. Environment (1) Terrain (a) In addition to the description in SOP special attention should be given to bodies of water and relief. (2) Weather (a) See current forecast ( www.weather.ee ) and SOP 2. MISSION FRIENFOR recon company (RECCOY) will gather and deliver information about enemy forces’ location, nature and activities spending 4 days and nights in the area moving in disguise in 4-member recon groups. 3. EXECUTION The commanding officer’s plan is to gather and analyze all the possible information about the enemey forces in the AOR – location, size, weapons, vehicles and activities. To complete the mission the recon groups will be taken from the start area TALLINN on ships to KOLGA bay (07 97), after the assault landing in KOLGA bay they move in disguise on foot along the route SALMISTU (06 96) – KAUTLA (11 55). Task conception (1) The task is divided into phases (2) The recon company is divided into 4-men groups (teams). (3) After the task is done the groups will be evacuated from KAUTLA on a helicopter (virtual). b. Restrictions (1) the groups are not allowed to contact each other and cooperate in order to avoid being seen (2) the group is not allowed to move along roads that are marked with 2 lines on the 1:50 000 map in order to avoid being seen 4. COMBAT SUPPORT a. during the preparation time all recon groups (teams) are using their own equipment and service 5. COMMAND AND SIGNAL a.
