Discussions on their taxonomy and ecology are provided. China *Correspondence to: [email protected] Abstract —Inonotus griseus is described and illustrated from Anhui Province, eastern China. This new species is distinguished by its annual and resupinate basidiocarps with a grey cracked pore surface, a monomitic hyphal system in both subiculum and trama, the presence of subulate to ventricose hymenial setae, the presence of hyphoid setae in both subiculum and trama, and ellipsoid, hyaline, slightly thick-walled cyanophilous basidiospores (9–10.5 × 6.3–7.2 µm). ITS sequence analyses support I. griseus as a distinct lineage within the core clade of Inonotus. Key words — Hymenochaetaceae, Hymenochaetales, Basidiomycota, polypore, taxonomy Introduction Inonotus P. Karst. (Hymenochaetaceae) was typified by I. hispidus (Bull.) P. Karst. Although more than 100 species have been accepted in this genus in a wide sense (Ryvarden 2005), molecular phylogenies have supported some Inonotus species in other small genera, including Inocutis Fiasson & Niemelä, Inonotopsis Parmasto, Mensularia Lázaro Ibiza, and Onnia P. Karst. (Wagner & Fischer 2002). Dai (2010), accepting this taxonomic segregation, morphologically emended the concept of Inonotus. Current characters of Inonotus sensu stricto include annual to perennial, resupinate, effused-reflexed or pileate, and yellowish to brown basidiocarps, homogeneous context, a monomitic hyphal system (at least in context/subiculum) with simple septate generative hyphae, presence or absence of hymenial and hyphoid setae, and ellipsoid, hyaline to yellowish or brownish, thick-walled and smooth basidiospores (Dai 2010). -

The collected specimens were found on dead or living wood in xerophilous scrub in the central plain of the Sonoran desert, Sonora State, México. This species is characterized by its resupinate basidiomata with medium size pores (4–5 per mm), its hymenial setae and hyphal setae, and basidiospores that are are subglobose, hyaline, smooth, and thin-walled. A key to Mexican species of Fuscoporia is presented. Key words — Agaricomycetes, Hymenochaetales, polyporoid fungi, taxonomy Introduction Fuscoporia was described by Murrill (1907) with F. ferruginosa as the type species. Many mycologists (Overholts 1953, Lowe 1966, Ryvarden & Johansen 1980, Gilbertson & Ryvarden 1987, Larsen & Cobb-Poulle 1990, Ryvarden 1991) have regarded this genus as synonymous with Poria Adans. and Phellinus Quél. At the present time, Fiasson & Niemelä (1984), Wagner & Fischer (2001, 2002), Groposo et al. (2007), Baltazar et al. (2009), Baltazar & Gibertoni (2010), and Raymundo et al. (2013) recognize Fuscoporia as a monophyletic genus characterized by its annual to perennial and resupinate to pileate basidiomata with poroid hymenophore, its dimitic hyphal system with encrusted generative hyphae in the dissepiments and trama, hymenial setae that are always present and hyphal setae that are either present or absent, and basidiospores that are hyaline, non-amyloid, acyanophilous, subglobose, ellipsoid, cylindrical to allantoid, thin-walled, and smooth. -

(a macrofungal genus causing serious wood rot) was considered as one of the largest genera of the family Hymenochaetaceae. This genus was described to encompass poroid Hymenochaetaceae (Hymenochaetales, Basidiomycota) with perennial basidiomata and a dimitic hyphal system (Larsen & Cobb-Poulle 1990, Wagner & Fischer 2002) but these characteristic features gradually appeared to be artificial because many intermediate forms have also been reported by many workers (Fiasson & Niemelä 1984, Corner 1991, Dai 1995, 1999, 2010, Fischer 1995, Wagner & Fischer 2001). -

Bot. Fennici 51: 403–406. A new polypore species, Fuscoporia insolita Spirin, Vlasák & Niemelä (Hymeno- chaetales, Basidiomycota), is described from Khabarovsk Reg., Russian Far East. It is characterized by resupinate or nodulose, tough, dimitic basidiocarps, scarce and short hymenial setae, narrow, cylindrical to fusiform basidiospores, and a unique ITS sequence. DNA data confirm that the species belongs in Fuscoporia. It seems to be a pathogenic species, growing on living angiosperm trees. Two hundred and sixteen species, 90 genera, 22 families, and 9 orders (Agaricales, Auriculariales, Cantharellales, Corticiales, Gloeophyllales, Hymenochaetales, Polyporales, Russulales and Trechisporales) have been reported from the area. Key words — macrofungi, neotropics Introduction The aphyllophoraceous fungi are currently spread througout many orders of Agaricomycetes (Hibbett et al. 2007) and comprise species that function as major decomposers of plant organic matter (Alexopoulos et al. 1996). The Amazonian Forest (00°44'–06°24'S / 58°05'–68°01'W) covers an area of 7 × 106 km2 in nine South American countries. Around 63% of the forest is located in nine Brazilian States (Acre, Amazonas, Amapá, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, Tocantins, west of Maranhão, and north of Mato Grosso) (Fig. 1). The Amazonian forest consists of a mosaic of different habitats, such as open ombrophilous, stational semi-decidual, mountain, “terra firme,” “várzea” and “igapó” forests, and “campinaranas” (Amazonian savannahs). Six months of dry season and six month of rainy season can be observed (Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi 2007). Even with the high biodiversity of Amazonia and the well-documented importance of aphyllophoraceous fungi to all arboreous ecosystems, few studies have been undertaken in the Brazilian Amazonia on this group of fungi (Bononi 1981, 1992, Capelari & Maziero 1988, Gomes-Silva et al. -
