OVERVIEW Discovery Sport will succeed LR2 within the Land Rover portfolio, but must not be considered a direct replacement. The Discovery Sport delivers much more than a mere update to the outgoing product and is the first product of the new Discovery range. In doing so Discovery Sport offers a unique blend of design appeal, capability and versatility that will continue the long line of recent successes for the Land Rover brand 2. DESIGN Discovery Sport marks another bold evolution in Land Rover design, serving as the first model in the new Land Rover Discovery family of SUVs. The progressive design of Discovery Sport is inspired by the latest generation of Land Rover design language and signals the future direction for the Discovery nameplate, while maintaining a clear lineage to the current Land Rover vehicles – as such the design communicates very clearly the vehicle’s breadth of capability. It takes Discovery design in a new direction – sleeker, lower and more aerodynamic, with a more compact and lighter body. With its powerful, rounded front end, faster windscreen angle, rising belt line and sloping roof, the Discovery Sport has a distinctive and dynamic character. The interior is stylish and modern, combining generous space and versatile accommodation with the high quality design and materials customers expect from a premium SUV. The Discovery Sport also offers the option of segment‐first 5+2 seating with generous second row legroom and the option to optimize the legroom in the 2nd and 3rd rows by sliding the 2nd row seats (by up to 6.3 inches). The selection of colors and materials in Discovery Sport marries a smart, contemporary appearance with a premium, luxury feel. Interior finishes combine traditional luxurious materials – such as double stitched leather– with elegant and modern color schemes. Changes in standard equipment, options or prices can occur. POWERTRAIN Discovery Sport features a turbocharged 2‐liter I‐4 engine, combining 6‐cylinder refinement and performance with 4‐cylinder fuel economy. The output is 240 horsepower at 5500rpm with 250 lb‐ft torque at 1750‐4000rpm. Combined with the state‐of‐the‐art 9‐speed automatic, Discovery Sport delivers 0‐60mph sprints in 7.8 seconds, with a top speed of 124mph. The 9‐speed automatic transmission, developed in partnership with ZF, is one of the most efficient and technically advanced transmissions ever used in a production vehicle. The increase in gear ratio allows improvement in fuel economy. Smaller ratio steps give improved response during acceleration, as well as improved shift quality, drive and refinement. Higher top gear not only reduces fuel consumption but the lower engine revs improve comfort and reduce noise when cruising at high speed. Meanwhile, the lowest ratio is specifically designed for off‐road use, towing and more extreme on‐road conditions like gradients and altitude, giving the driver a heightened sense of control. The 9‐speed transmission has a skip‐shift function for much swifter downshifting under rapid deceleration or from greater driver input demands. Fast‐off model measures the rate of throttle release, anticipates further requests by the driver for more power, then holds the gear if necessary. If the driver requests a downshift when the vehicle is travelling too fast, the transmission will remember the request and make the shift when the speed drops to an appropriate level. The torque converter incorporates a multi‐stage damper system for smoother pulling away and improved refinement. The innovative adaptive shifting system matches the driver’s mood within seconds, sharpening up during brisk driving then slipping seamlessly into a more economical setting just as quickly when taking a more relaxed approach. The 4WD system offered in the Discovery Sport is an innovative full‐time intelligent system which continuously varies the front/rear torque split using the latest generation, electronically‐controlled Haldex center coupling to delivery optimum grip and balance for the current driving conditions. Changes in standard equipment, options or prices can occur. Land Rover reserves the right to change product specifications at any time without incurring obligations. Page 5 of 20 5. SUSTAINABILITY Discovery Sport has been optimized to enhance sustainability by minimizing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Key technologies include: Stop/Start system – automatically shuts down the engine when the car comes to rest, improving fuel economy and CO2 emissions by 5 to 7 percent. 9‐Speed automatic transmission –increased number of gear ratios with higher top gear allows improvement in fuel economy and CO2 emissions. Smart regenerative charging – electrical charging system has an intelligent power management system which prioritizes charging when the car is decelerating Optimized low‐friction designs – the 2.0 liter turbocharged 4‐cylinder features state‐of‐the‐art design that is carefully developed to eliminate unwanted frictioonal losses. ECO Mode – first‐ever Land Rover application, this ddriver selecteed feature prioritizes the most efficient vehicle settings, including automatic transsmission and comfort features like HVAC. New ECO Data – provides drivers with information and feedback via the 8‐inch touchscreen to help them adopt more economical driving habits. 6. SAFETY AND DRIVER AIDS In addition to outstanding design and performance, a comprehensive and advanced suite of safety features are utilized to ensure that the Discovery Sport is a vehicle that can be depended upon when necessary. Braking Discovery Sport features a powerful braking system for confident stopping in all conditions. The brake discs measure 12.8 inches in the front and 11.8 inches in the rear. The large discs provide huge thermal capacity, capable of achieving outstanding stopping performance. The ffront brake is also engineered to achieve enhanced stopping power with lower noise levels and reduced amount of brake dust. Changes in standard equipment, options or prices can occur. Page 6 of 20 Active Safety Technologies The comprehensive list of Discovery Sport traction and stability systems includes: Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) Roll Stability Control (RSC) Electronic Traction Control (ETC) Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) Hill Descent Control (HDC) and Gradient Release Control (GRC) Hill Start Assist Engine Drag Torque Control (EDC) Anti‐lock Braking System (ABS) Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) Emergency Brake Lights (EBL) Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) Corner Brake Control (CBC) Autonomous Emergency Braking The Discovery Sport is Land Rover’s first vehicle to offer an emergency braking system using an innovative stereo digital camera system. Operational between speeds of 3 and 30 mph, the camera system is designed to detect objects which could create the risk of a collision. In the event of a risk, the driver is alerted by a visual and audible warning signal. If a collision is judged to be unavoidable, a driver warning will be given and the system will automatically apply an emergency braking pressure level. The system is designed to help avoid collisions at speeds less than 30mph, and to mitigate the severity
