Once an important stop on the silver route between Zacatecas and México City, its historic center is filled with well- preserved buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries. With its narrow cobblestone streets, leafy courtyards, fine architectural details and sumptuous interiors, San Miguel de Allende is arguably the prettiest town in México. Queretaro – San Miguel de Allende 65.5 Km, 55 mins Use bullets sparingly, if at all Tequisquiapan Tequisquiapan is part of Querétaro’s Wine Route with La Redonda as the municipality’s major producer. Grape production began in the early 1960s, but has become important enough to be featured on the municipality’s seal. The town hosts the annual National Cheese and Wine Fair which showcases southern Querétaro’s cheese and wine production. Most important wine brands are Freixenet and la Redonda. Queretaro – Tequisquiapan 63.3 Km, 51 mins DRAFT Peña de Bernal At 433 m (1,421 ft) it is the tallest monolith in the world. Peña de Bernal is located in San Sebastian Bernal, a small town in the Mexican state of Querétaro. A recent chemical analysis by researchers at the National Autonomous University of Mexico has determined that it was formed about 8.7 million years ago. Many people make a pilgrimage to the highest point hikeable, visiting a little chapel about halfway up.
