LCAA8375 Offers in Excess of £450000 Trewidden, Church Cove, the Lizard, Nr. Helston, Cornwall, TR12 7PH FREEHOLD S Ref: LCAA8375 Offers in excess of £450,000 Trewidden, Church Cove, The Lizard, Nr. Helston, Cornwall, TR12 7PH FREEHOLD Situated just a short stroll away from the highly sought after, tranquil and exceedingly pretty Church Cove, a characterful ‘chocolate box’ 2 double bedroomed cottage with a delightful, surprisingly large enclosed private rear garden. An exceptionally charming main home, second home or holiday letting opportunity close to some of Cornwall’s most sought after coastline. 2 Ref: LCAA8375 SUMMARY OF ACCOMMODATION Ground Floor: entrance hall/office, sitting room, dining room, shower room, kitchen. First Floor: landing, 2 double bedrooms. Outside: delightful, cobbled courtyard garden to the front with a surprisingly large, attractive and profusely stocked garden to the rear including a broad paved sun terrace, timber summerhouse, garden store and shed and water feature. 3 Ref: LCAA8375 DESCRIPTION • Trewidden is situated only a short stroll from the dramatic Church Cove and around a mile from the centre of Lizard village itself. Church Cove is widely regarded as one of the most idyllic spots on the south coast of Cornwall containing an idyllic church, plus just a handful of cottages tapering down to the sea and framed by sheer, rugged cliffs. • Having been subject to much improvement during our client’s ownership including partial replacement double glazed windows, replacement composite front door, refitted shower room, garden summerhouse and a recently replaced oil fired central heating boiler – yet decoratively may benefit from some modernisation allowing any incoming purchaser to put their own stamp upon it. • Trewidden represents a charming, classical Cornish cottage set behind high stone walls and access across a beautifully planted cobbled courtyard to its painted cob elevations. The front courtyard faces in a southerly direction and enjoys the best of the morning/midday sunshine. A modern extension links the rear of the cottage to its idyllic, large rear garden which is a true place of privacy, peace and tranquillity. • Approached through the newly replaced composite front door is an entrance hallway/study which in turn gives access into a cosy sitting room with beamed ceiling and inglenook fireplace. There is a further separate dining room, refitted shower room and kitchen completing the ground floor. Both the kitchen and dining room serve the rear garden, the kitchen itself could benefit from replacement or modernisation. On the first floor there are two good sized double bedrooms, one with a storage cupboard with hanging rail and fitted shelving. • The rear garden at Trewidden is an absolute delight, profusely stocked with meandering herringbone brick pathways leading from broad paved terraces, passing cascading water features and mature planted beds and borders with a covered pergola, open level lawn and modern timber summerhouse with lighting, power and Broadband connected; all of which are peaceful, private and enclosed. 4 Ref: LCAA8375 LOCATION Located above Church Cove approximately 400 yards away, Trewidden is just a mile from the centre of Lizard Village, close to the southernmost point of the UK mainland. Church Cove itself is very highly regarded and is one of the most idyllic spots along this stretch of south Cornwall’s coastline. The cove contains just a handful of former fisherman and lifeboat cottages descending to the sea where the remains of the original lifeboat house, a private gift in 1883 and the crabbing boats are still pulled up the beach by wire ropes and a winch. Lizard Village is an approximate 10 to 15 minute walk from Trewidden and offers a choice of pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and shops as well as daily essentials. Walk a little further and you will come to Lizard Point, a popular spot in summer and winter alike to take in the views of the Atlantic Ocean hitting its first obstacle for nearly 3,000 miles. From here you can walk the coastal footpath in either direction, taking in the ever changing rugged scenery on your way to the very highly regarded National Trust Kynance Cove. The market town of Helston lies a little over 11 miles away with its famous annual Floral Dance and provides a good range of schooling, business and retail facilities. • Lizard Geology Field Trip
Malvern U3A Geology Group LIZARD FIELD TRIP Led by Dr Nick Chidlaw 11th to 14th April 2013 The origin of the Lizard Complex The Lizard consists of oceanic components that have been thrust faulted (obducted) over younger rocks. The context would have been a small rift basin similar to the Red Sea or Gulf of California and was formed at the same time as the development of the SW England passive margin during the Early Devonian. This was terminated by the onset of convergence between two plates with partial ‘obduction’ achieved by the Upper Devonian. The Lizard now contains a suite of rocks from the upper surface consisting of sediments, and below them pillow lavas, sheeted dykes and gabbros merging into layered gabbro followed by ultrabasic rocks of peridotite representing the crust down to, and including, the mantle. Such sequences of rocks are known as an ophiolite complex and the Lizard is one of the best examples in Britain. The research combines book-based strategies and performative encounters with people and places, to build a rich, chorographic survey described in images, sound files, objects and texts. A key research problem – how to express the forensic fingerprint of that which is invisible in the historic record – is described as a poetics of uncertainty, a speculative response to information that teeters on the brink of what can be reliably known. This poetics combines multi-modal writing to communicate events in the life of the research, auto-ethnographically, from the point of view of an artist working in the academy.
