SOUTH WALES ALLIANCE LEAGUE 2018-2019 SEASON’S REVIEW The Premier Division continued to be as strong as ever with a number of clubs vying for the top spot over the course of the season. Eventually it was Ynyshir Albions who finished strongest eventually running out champions eight points clear of second place Pencoed Athletic to secure their third promotion in four seasons. At the bottom Cwm Welfare had a very challenging season and were firmly rooted to the foot of the table at the end of the campaign. With two clubs being relegated from the Welsh League at the end of the season it looked as if four clubs would be relegated from the Premier Division. However, the resignation of Pontlottyn AFC and the decision of Brecon Corries to transfer to Mid Wales football eventually meant that only Ton & Gelli BC would be joining Cwm in the First Division next season. The First Division was won at a canter by Porthcawl Town Athletic. Runners-up Blaenrhondda secured their second successive Alliance League promotion while the third promotion spot was claimed by FC Cwmaman who edged out Cornelly United on goal difference. At the other end of the table Llangynwyd Rangers BGC found themselves relegated for the second successive season. In the Second Division, champions Llanrumney United led the table for much of season. A late surge of form saw Aberfan SDC claim second spot whilst the final promotion place was claimed by Cogan Coronation. At the bottom, the League bid farewell to AFC Bargoed and Carnetown FC. They were due to be joined by AFC Wattstown. However, the late resignation of Tynte Rovers granted them a late reprieve. The W. John Owen Cup Final was won by Cardiff Draconians, who defeated Porthcawl Town Athletic, whilst the South Wales Senior Cup was won by Llanrumney United, who defeated Quar Park Rangers in the final.
