THINGS TO KNOW

PLATFORM/DECK Made out of a 70/30 poly/cotton white fabric which spans the full width and length of the platform, holding the bottom of bed treatment in place. Decorative fabric is seamed to the platform to create the drop.

PLATFORM/DECK STRIP An additional 3”-4” of drop fabric added to the platform, (sewn atop) minimizing the appearance when the box spring shifts or moves.

BEDSKIRT A bottom of bed cover that begins at the top of the Box Spring and finishes ½” off the finished floor. This covers the box spring and the space below to the floor.

BOX SPRING COVER A bottom of bed cover that begins at the top of the Box Spring and covers only the Box Spring, typically by 1” or less. Anything below the box spring will remain uncovered.

DIMENSIONS Three measurements are needed for bottom of bed treatments; length, width & drop. Length (A) from head to C foot and width (B) from one side to the other. A B The drop (C) is from the top of the boxspring to the end of decorative fabric. BOTTOM OF BED STYLES RESOURCE

THINGS TO KNOW

CONTINUOUS WRAP Wraps around all sides of the boxspring and does not typically have any features (pleats, folds, etc.) lengths vary from 1” past box spring length to 1/2” off the floor.

TAILORED Pleated with either two pleats (at foot corners) or 5 pleats (foot corners and middle pleats on 3 sides) this common style typically drops to 1/2” off the floor.

QUILTED Creating an upholstered wrapat the bottom of bed, quilting decorative fabrics for bedskirts or boxspring covers adds an additional unique element.

SHIRRED Also referred to as gathered, this style gains its distinct look from the ‘fullness’ of ruffled fabric that runs continuouslyaround the edge of the bed. There are no pleats, simply gathered fabric.

BOX PLEATED The drop fabric is finished with box pleats spaced every 6-8”, or as specified. BOTTOM OF BED FEATURES RESOURCE

THINGS TO KNOW

HEAD CAP Production detail to minimize movement/shifting ensuring tight fit over box spring. This feature is cost efficient and highly effective.

ELASTIC HUGGER An interior “fitted sheet” utilizing continuous elastic to minimize movement and secure to boxspring. Not visible to the guest, an internal component only.

CONTINUOUS ELASTIC Elastic is sewn into the bottom edge all around the box spring cover, therefore making it ‘continuous’ on all sides of the drop.

ELASTIC IN CORNERS To prevent puckering or gathering of decorative fabric, we will often use elastic in corners only. A12” piece of elastic is added to the corner (6” on either side of the seam).

LINING This extra layer of fabric may be used to add weight and fullness to the overall aesthetic. Popular options include blackout, muslin or poly/cotton sheeting. ELEMENTS RESOURCE

THROW Usually a smaller pillow for decorative use, these can be made in various sizes and shapes. Finished with clean edges and plush inserts, when used correctly they can make a design connection between furniture and the rest of a room.

BOX A box pillow refers to any pillow with fabric walls. Most often combined with foam inserts they are used as seat or seat backs, although they can be filled with loose blown fill for a plusher feel. Box pillows provide multiple surfaces which can be treated with different face fabrics. A cylindrical pillow shape that can be constructed with various length and diameter specifications. may be filled with foam for a crisp more taut finish, or with loose blown fill for a comfier finish. The ends may be finished in various ways (with welts, flat ends, gathered ends or with contrasting fabrics). Bolsters provide an interesting design element whether used on their own or in conjunction with other pillows.

FLANGE/BAND A flat band of fabric sewn along the edge of a pillow as an added design aspect is called a flange. A piece of fabric sewn on top of the face fabric is referred to as a band. Both may be constructed from the same fabric as the face or from a contrasting fabric.

KNIFE EDGE The most common form of pillow edge, 2 pieces of fabric sewn together at the edges to form a sharp seam and tapered corners. They tend to be fuller in the middle and have thinner edges. Pillows finished this way offer a clean design with no added ornamentation.

CORD/WELT A design aspect that runs along the seams of a pillow to add strength and decoration, cords may be purchased in prefinished designs and sewn onto a pillow while welts are 100% polyester white cords wrapped in a fabric of choice. Cord and welt are available in different diameters.

ZIPPER Our zippers are made from 100% nylon, available in tan, black, ivory, brown, or white and can be cut to any length. All zippered pillows are made with a hidden closure for a functional design allowing for the removal of insert.

FACE FABRIC Many fabrics used with pillows have a pattern repeat. A pattern repeat is the distance from one point in a design to the next identical point in the repeat of the design. We have the capability to place a fabric focal point of your choosing on each and every pillow in a specific location.

INSERT Inserts are either dacron wrapped foam or a natural/synthetic fiber filling inside a fabric case. Inserts are made separately from pillow covers with the intention that they may be removed in order to clean and/or replace when needed.

3” FULLNESS All pillows with blown fill inserts come filled to a standard level based upon dimension and weight. We do offer 6” the option to have pillows over or under filled as desired. In this 10” case a pillow’s thickness is measured from the exact center. PILLOW INSERT RESOURCE

STANDARD This insert is made of conjugated polyester fill inside a 70% polyester, 30% cotton cover. A design optimal for high usage areas where it is important for the pillow to keep a very firm, full shape over a long life.

PREMIUM This insert, made of siliconized micro denier fill inside a 100% cotton cover, is a higher end option. Designed to highlight plushness and comfort this insert is softer and heavier than a standard insert. Often used in areas where comfort is considered a premium.

NATURAL This insert, made with an 80/20 ratio of duck feathers to down fill, inside a 100% cotton cover epitomizes luxury and class. These inserts are often used to project lavishness and frill in a room’s design.

INDOOR FOAM Available in four typical densities, providing varying degrees of support, and wrapped in Dacron this insert is ideal for seat cushions, seat backs and bolsters. This insert keeps its shape extremely well and provides a clean, crisp look that adds to any room.

OUTDOOR FOAM Available in four typical densities for varying levels of support, this foam stands apart due to its construction. Made via a reticulation process, resulting in a porous foam that allows for maximum water drainage. When paired with an outdoor rated fabric these are the perfect solution for seating around swimming pools or on outdoor patios.

OUTDOOR POLYESTER Made of conjugated polyester loose blown fill inside a 100% polyester cover these inserts are outdoor rated. Boasting great water drainage and minimal absorption, when paired with an outdoor rated fabric this insert makes it possible for you to add decorative accents, in the way of throw pillows to any outdoor seating area, without the worry of mildew, mold or wetness. BED MEASURING RESOURCE

THINGS TO KNOW

The following procedure should be used when verifying bed sizes. To ensure accuracy when measuring, it is important to start at the edge of box spring before the curve or bend. If cord or tape edge is provided, please take measurements at that location. These measurements are necessary in deter- mining the exact width, length and height of the bed set.

NOTE: when determining the finished size for the boxspring we will deduct 1/2” from all measurements provided to ensure a tight fit.
