Please read this document carefully before using ExhibitView 5.0. This document introduces one to the rich features embedded in ExhibitView software. It also acts as a basic reference for someone to get started working on ExhibitView. ExhibitView is free to use for first 14 days.

Section 1. What is New in ExhibitView 5.0?

The fresh new ExhibitView 5.0 now makes your favorite presentation management system even more powerful, fast and feature rich.

The old screens have given to the new rich user interface. The icons are now even easier to locate and use. Navigation is a breeze. ExhibitView 5.0 makes learning fun and easy. Anyone can learn to use the world’s best legal presentation software quickly.

Slideshow Screen Mirror. Give a slideshow presentation like PowerPoint. You can create a slideshow, put the first slide into the presentation area, click on the Slideshow button on the top toolbar and simply mirror your screen, just like PowerPoint. Only your slide will be seen. Click away with your standard slide remote control.

Slideshow Video Export. You can create a slideshow and convert into a .mp4 video file. This is very helpful for creating settlement demand packages or sharing your opening or closing statement with others.

The WebViewer now allows you to take snapshots of live Facebook pages and save them in the web pages tab.

We have designed ExhibitView 5.0 to give a Better User Experience through a series of small but user-centric enhancements that give more control and flexibility.

Overview of ExhibitView 5

ExhibitView™ is a complete Presentation Management System for the Windows platform and supports Microsoft Office Documents, Spreadsheets and Presentations. It allows you to manage your documents, images, audio/video, and web content.

Basic functionality includes:

 SlideShow(s) - Create one or more slide shows in the same presentation. Export slideshows as MP4 video files for many uses.

 Import - Documents, Pictures, and Audio/Video clips.

 Web Pages - Surf and Save Web Pages as .PDF files, view websites live.

 Projector - use the keyboard shortcut of F12 to toggle the output on and off. This keeps your screen clean while getting another exhibit ready to display.

 Integrated Digital Video Transcript Player - Play, quick search, bookmark, your DVT Discs / Folders created with other software.

 Spell Checker – Integrated Spell Checker for our SlideMaker.

 Annotate and markup your exhibits and videos on the run while making presentation. Plus mark up your exhibits and leave the marks for pre-marking simplicity.

Known compatibility issues

Windows Font Size Limitation: ExhibitView 5.0 supports only normal font size in Windows setting, which is equivalent to 96 DPI (100%).

If your computers setting in -> Display is set to upwards of 100%, please change it to 100%, restart the computer and launch ExhibitView.

ExhibitView installation requires “Administrative” rights: ExhibitView 5.0 needs full administrative rights during installation to function properly. ExhibitView uses the Windows System Registry for its versatile set of operations. This makes it absolutely necessary to be run by a user having “local administrator” rights in a system. If you are running as a user without administrative rights then licensing can fail.

Section 3. Creating and Saving Projects

Creating and saving and moving projects are straightforward in ExhibitView. When you create a project, a case project, our product creates a folder with the case/project name you designate. Knowing where you saved the case/project folder is all you really need to understand. Why? Because once you know where your case/project folder is, you can copy it to a small USB drive and move the entire case/project to any other computer running ExhibitView. Second, you can open and immediately perform a SAVE-AS from one computer and save the entire case/project to another computer on a network, to a portable hard drive, to Dropbox and this too will make moving projects simple.

Our product is NOT a database type application like some others in the legal industry. This means, ALL the work you do, ALL the exhibits you add, ALL the markups and issues folders, witness folders, everything will be saved into the case/project folder. So, all you need is to remember where you saved your folder.

When you launch ExhibitView, each time, you will encounter the project wizard. This is where you create, open and manage case/projects. You will even find a reference to the location you saved your project. WARNING…Do not go into the project folder and make changes on your own. You can corrupt your case/project. Below is the screen showing our project wizard

Note that you can also delete case/projects. Just select a case (highlight it) and at the bottom right of the wizard see DELETE to remove a case/project from the list.

ExhibitView is a multi-media software application to organize and present multiple types of media. Supporting many types of media (anything electronic) is what our product is made for.

Section 5. Main Interface, The ExhibitView Desktop

Below is a screenshot of ExhibitView’s main user interface. The important areas to recognize are as follows:

ExhibitView™ ID, Alias Name and File Name

When you import items, default view is your exhibit/asset filename. Additionally, an ExhibitView™ ID is automatically assigned. For example:

 Slides are labelled “S###_#” (e.g. S001_1, S002_2…)  Documents are labelled “DOC###” (e.g. DOC001, DOC002…)  Images are labelled “IMG###” (e.g. IMG001, DOC002…)  Audio is labelled “AUD###” (e.g. AUD001, AUD002…)  Videos are labelled “VID###” (e.g. VID001, VID002…)  Web Pages Saved have their own naming convention.

You can also rename items by giving it an “” name. Right click on the thumbnail of the item and select “Preview…” option to rename and click Update. See our print features to print indexes of all your exhibits/assets showing your filename and/or the ExhibitView ID.

Find and Present Feature

If you know the name of an ExhibitView™ item, simply type it in the Search textbox (below your asset library). ExhibitView™ finds everything available with that alias name, file name or ExhibitView™ ID and displays it as a list. To quickly access the Find Menu, you can click CTRL+F to move your cursor to the find box, type an item name, hit enter and present!

NOTE..If an asset/exhibit is copied to multiple sub-folders it appears multiple times in the search pane by appending the folder names along with the document names, so that one can open the asset of a specific folder and see the annotations specific to that folder without having to be looking in that sub folder.

You can select an item from the list and hit enter. That item will be displayed center screen full.

Note: The Find and Present Feature only displays items in the center screen and cannot automatically display items on the left or right.

Virtual Folders vs. Master Folders Tabs

ExhibitView 5.0 continues the concept of Virtual Folders allowing a user to logically organize their contents with ease. Quickly create sub folders in your project, plan and organize your artifacts with the Virtual Folders.

The virtual folders are located on the top of the left pane.

By default every project has a virtual folder called “My Favorite”. One can select single / multiple documents, images, audio / videos and web pages from the left pane tab and drag drop them to the currently selected virtual folder on top. Right click to select all or to de-select items.

You can create as many virtual folders as you want in a project. At any point in time only one virtual folder tab will be visible on the top. The drop down icon beside the current virtual folder when clicked shows the available virtual folders in the project.

A virtual folder can keep a mix of all the available file types that ExhibitView's left pane assets (except slides and slideshows). The artifacts saved to the virtual folder are actually links to the original files in the left pane tabs. When a file is added all the annotations along with it is copied to the virtual folder. However, the user may decide to a file from one of the virtual folders and modify or add annotations to it. This will not affect the original file annotation nor will it affect the annotations on the same file, but inside another virtual folder.

You can create new virtual folders, rename them or even delete them. Right clicking on the virtual folder shall display a context menu with "Rename" and "Delete" options. One can rename or delete a virtual folder. Deleting a virtual folder will not delete the actual artifact linked and stored in it. But deleting the original document from the left pane will delete the same from the virtual folder.

To add an artifact to the virtual folder you need to open the desired MASTER folder on the left, then select the exhibits/assets you would like to move/copy, then drag it to the virtual folder name showing at the top. When you drag up to the virtual folder, your mouse displays a "+" denoting that it is adding the selected file(s) to that virtual folder.

While searching for artifacts in the find/search zone at bottom of the left pane it shows artifacts by appending the items name with virtual folders they are part of. If an artifact is copied to multiple sub-folders, then that appears multiple times in the search pane (aka Find at bottom of library) so that you can open the artifact of a specific folder and see the annotations specific to that item in that sub-folder.

Section 6. The Presentation Area

The presentation area is either a full screen or split screen depending how you want to show items. For many users showing lots of documents, a single click on a document, image, will move that item into the center of the presentation area. If you need or desire to show 2 different items side by side, you simple click, hold and drag the item to the left or right screen. You will note the presentation are shows a gray shadow indicating where you will be placing the item.

The next image shows how the side by side would look to a jury. Only the screen on the right is seen by the jury/audience and your laptop screen is kept private. Use F12 to turn on/off the jury/audience output. FYI..Your laptop/projector need to be using Windows extended desktop mode to achieve the private juror/audience screen.

Section 7. The Tools in the Toolbar

The tools inside the toolbar, along the top are for different purposes and grouped accordingly. Mark-up is for annotating on items in the presentation area. You can annotate and item live and erase it. You can annotate and leave the annotation. You can annotate and click the “Snap” button and save a copy to images for use later in a SlideShow? I am asking you! Yes, you can!

Let’s review the toolset, from left to right, each item..

1. Markup Section a. Select –use this to release a marking tool or select another item to present. b. Callout –use this to select a portion of an item to call-out. Always click and drag from left to right and down for the best results. Practice this technique. c. Stretch –Similar to “fit-width” in Acrobat. Click here to fully enlarge a document and make use of the entire left-right of our presentation area. To then view the area below, just scroll your mouse or and move the item up/down. d. Highlight –Highlight any portion of an exhibit using multiple colors. e. Text –Create small text boxes. Use a border and background color to make the text box standout. You could use this control for an exhibit sticker. f. Lines –Draw straight or freehand using the lines/pen tool. g. Shapes –Use a circle, square or arrows to point your jury/audience in the right direction on a picture or document or a live video. h. Erase –Use the eraser to remove any markup. Use the CTRL+click erase to remove all markups on an item at once. 2. Undo/Redo a. Use this control to undo or redo a markup. 3. Screen controls a. Hide –This multi-function button will let you have 2 items side by side and hide the left or right screen. The control toggles the same to show/hide. b. Wide –This control is for side by side items and will make either the left or right screen slightly larger than the other. The control toggles the same to revert back to normal side by side viewing. c. Snap –takes a snapshot of anything in the presentation area and moves it into the images folder. Great to create quick demonstrative exhibits and use them in slides or slideshows for opening or closing statements or mediation. d. Clear/Recall –This control clears away any item in the presentation area. It is a

toggle control so once you clear away all items, you can click this icon again as it name changes to “recall” and will revert the presentation screen to whatever was last being shown. Use DEL & CTRL+R as shortcuts. See key shortcuts at the end of this guide. e. SlideShow “Play” – this control becomes active only when you put a slide into the center of the presentation area. This control will act like giving a PowerPoint and make the laptop screen show only the slide. Then, a user can “mirror” the laptop to present a slideshow using ExhibitView. We added this feature for many who have basic computer skills; but must give slide presentations from time to time. Now, no need to understand extended desktop to use ExhibitView. You can send the boss out with confidence! f. Print –Will print items in the presentation area or will allow printing indexes of everything in any folder. g. Projector –this is the control to turn on/off the extended output. Another way to say this is “publish or do not publish” items in the presentation main area to the jury/audience.

Section 8. The Video Player and controls

Drag audio/video clips to the Presentation Area and they will automatically start.

Move the cursor to the bottom of the screen to access the audio/video controls. Spacebar to auto start/stop

Video Mark-Up

Video mark-ups can be applied when paused and when playing in real-time. Performance is better if the video is playing. Markup on video will NOT auto save. This is a real time only feature!

Section 9. The SlideMaker

SlideMaker is a tool you can use to make opening statements, closing statements, create one-off demonstrative exhibits and more. You can even export a completed slideshow in ExhibitView 5 that will create a MP4 video you can share. You may use this create things like settlement videos or mediation statements and more. Now, do everything from one product. Let’s get started creating a slide show.

Click on New Slide Show Add the name for the slide show, author, and add for future reference.

Note: The Creation and Modification Dates are read-only.

Slides section:

 New: Create a new slide.  Save: Save the current slide.  Background: Choose a different color/image or import.  Templates: Choose from a list of templates.  Delete: Delete the current slide.  Play: Play the slides as a slideshow.  Print: Print the current slide.

Markup section:

 Select: The pointer tool. Use to clear other icon selections.  Lines: Draw straight/free hand lines.  Highlighter: Highlight sections.  Color: Change the color of the Lines, Highlighter, or Shapes created.  Shapes: After selecting a category from the drop-down menu under the Shapes section, click on this to choose a shape. Shapes section: Select one of the following categories from the drop-down menu. Great for creating borders around images, documents, callouts and more.

Slide Header Tools

The Slide header shows the slide show name and slide name on the top left corner. In the top right corner are buttons for the following actions:

 Save the current slide as template (to use and apply to new slides again and again)  Copy object  Paste object  Lock/Unlock the text and objects of the current slide so they can’t be rotated, shifted or zoomed in on.  Delete current slide  Close current slide

You can also grab multiple items on a slide and they will all be selected together. You can use this feature to move multiple items at the same time keeping the ratio of how each item appears next to the others.

Send behind.. Right click on any item and "Send to back" so you can put a border around an item.

Import PowerPoint Slide Shows into ExhibitView™

NOTE: In order to import a PowerPoint, you must have the latest version of MS Office installed. Additionally, your slideshow will be converted to a PDF that you cannot edit. You can however add items from the exhibit library, including video, onto individual slides.

To Import a slide show from PowerPoint:

1 Click on the “New Slide Show” icon under the Slides tab.

2 Then press “Import From PowerPoint.”

The “Import” window pops up:

1 Click on the “…” button to choose a PPT file.

2 Name the slide show.

3 Click on Start to begin the process. A new slide show will appear on the left pane.

Section 10. The Synchronized Video Deposition Viewer

Click on the 4th Tab along the bottom to launch SyncPro player. Playback "synched" only video depositions. Select text and click PLAY, set up bookmarks and more.

Features in Detail

Top menu bar

1. Open button Opens a file browser to locate and open DVT files

2. Recent Files Displays a drop down list of the recently opened DVT files

3. Search Text Type a text or a phrase to search in the open DVT file

4. Search Button Click this button to start search

5. Search Backward Search the word from the current location in upward direction

6. Search Forward Search the word from the current location in downward direction

7. Help Launches the SyncViewer help file

8. Settings Contains the different preference and setting information for SyncPro

9. Zoom Percentage Sets the DVT video zoom percentage with which the video is projected in the extended monitor

10. Extended Monitor Starts projecting the DVT to the Extended Monitor

Transcript View

The transcript viewer displays the transcript text on the left hand side of the video. The transcript viewer automatically scrolls as the video plays and keeps showing the section of text being shown in the accompanying video. You can select multiple lines from the transcript and perform the following activities with the selected text:  Double clicking on a single line of the transcript starts playing the video from that position  Single clicking anywhere on the transcript pauses the video  User can scroll using scroll up/down buttons or mouse wheel

Word Index The word index is located just below the transcript viewer.

This box shows all the words found in the transcript along with the index of their location. The location is in Page:Line format. Each Page:Line is hyperlinked and can be clicked to jump to the corresponding page and line in the transcript file.

Bookmarks SyncViewer allows you to select certain portions of a transcript and save them to be quickly shown later. Bookmarks are by default saved by the PAGE start_page_num:start_line_num TO PAGE end_page_num:end_line_num.

Note that the bookmarks when made below to a specific project that is currently open. Therefore, it is possible for you to open the same DVT from another project and create a different set of bookmarks. If you copy a project to a pen drive or a portable drive and run it from another computer, the bookmarks are also copied.

The saved bookmarks are available in the “Select” dropdown.

If you wish to delete a bookmark, select the bookmark and press the “X” button beside it. The bookmark start and bookmark end are displayed below the “Select” drop down box.

Sometimes it might be required to adjust the Start and End time of a bookmark by a few seconds or in milliseconds. The “Adjustment” option offers three options adjustment In Seconds, In 10 milliseconds and In Milliseconds. After selecting the desired option, use the up / down spinner beside the Start and End values to adjust accordingly. Up/down buttons associated with Start and End textboxes – Increases or decreases the Start or End time by the amount specified by the Adjustment combo. Your changes will be automatically saved.

Load button – Stops playing, loads the bookmark and select the specific synchronized text area with yellow highlighter.

Start button – The start button forces the playback from the start of the bookmark currently

selected but ONLY for 5 seconds to check the audio. You can adjust this to not clip any words being spoken.

End button – The end button forces the playback from 5 seconds before the playback end. This is specifically helpful if someone needs to quickly navigate to the bookmark end section and make adjustments so all selected words are heard and not cut off.

Play button – After a clip/bookmark segment is readied by clicking the bookmark you wish and Load button, clicking Play starts playing

Play All button – Automatically plays all bookmarks from the first selected and loaded plays them sequentially as they appear on the list.

Note: The bookmarks are added to the bookmark list in the sequence they are created and not based on the time when they occur in the video. You can delete certain bookmarks but you cannot move them up/down.

Print button – Shows a print dialog and enables printing the transcript. See print section for details.

Selection This area consists of three buttons and is activated only when you select multiple lines in the synchronized text area. 1. Play Selected – Play only the selected portion of the video transcript.

2. Bookmark Selected – Creates a new bookmark with the selected texts. This brings up a dialog, which accepts a name of the bookmark or allows you to enter a custom name.

3. Unselect and return – Returns the transcript pointer to original position where it was before the selection were made

Playback Controls

1. Blue DOT timeline of segment – Shows the location of your clip. From beginning to end the blue dot moves. Grab the blue dot and manually advance or reverse the location of the playback

2. Play, pause and stop button – To play, pause and stop the current DVT file

3. Time section – Shows the current and remaining time of the video

4. Stream section – Shows the current stream name (CD020509-01.mpg in snapshot)

5. Snapshot button – Takes snapshot image of the current frame of the video being played

6. Volume adjust track bar – Enables the user to control volume

Printing Print Options

A. Detailed or Simplified – This radio button determines if user wants a detailed report (detailed report additionally shows the physical lines for each bookmark from the DVT file) B. Print Title Page – This checkbox determines if user wants to print a page at the beginning of the print C. Print Page Number – This checkbox determines if user wants to print the page number D. Print Current Date – This checkbox determines if user wants to print current date E. Printer selection text box and button – Clicking the button “Select” will take you to the printer and page selection dialog. F. Number of copies – This is a view only field updated according to the choice inside printer selection dialog. G. Orientation – This too a view only field updated according to the choice inside printer selection dialog. H. Print button – Close this dialog and proceed for printing.

Cancel button – Close this dialog and cancel printing

CTRL + E Error Correct: Opens the current slide in the SlideMaker Editor Again pressing CTRL + E while in the SlideMaker saves the slide and returns back to the presentation area.
