Short Drives Around the Goulburn Mulwaree Region IN THE GOULBURN REGION Driving Time: 1hr 37mins - Distance: 126km ULBURN Depart Goulburn, heading north along Taralga Road you will take in the rolling hills and astonishing wind turbines as you drive through the countryside to Taralga. From here travel along Breadalbane Road onto Breadalbane, made famous by the notorious Ben Hall and his gang in the 1860s with plenty of beautiful period buildings to see. Depart Breadalbane on Cullerin Road, turning onto the Hume Highway and passing Yarra at the intersection of the Federal and Hume Highways before coming back into Goulburn along Hume Street. Driving Time: 2hr 1min - Distance: 127.3km Depart Goulburn, heading south-east along Mountain Ash Road, weaving through the beautiful countryside on your way to Bungonia. A short drive from Bungonia, along Lookdown Road is the Bungonia National Park with breathtaking views from a multitude of lookouts. You will depart Bungonia along Jerrara Road turning onto the Hume Highway for a short trip before arriving in Marulan, the only town on the 150th Meridian. Depart Marulan back along the Hume Highway, turning right onto Highland Way where you will travel through Tallong to Wingello. Tallong has stunning views of the Morton National Park, Shoalhaven Gorge and River from the Long Point and Badgerys Lookouts. Wingello delights the senses with aromas from the surrounding pine and eucalypt trees in the Wingello State Forest. Depart Wingello along Murrimba Road, crossing the Hume Highway onto Inverary Road, passing Brayton onto Carrick Road to the historic Towrang Stockade. Throughout Towrang you will find convict graves, a powder magazine and the convict built Towrang Bridge. From here it’s just a short drive back on the Hume Highway to Goulburn. .

It is the opinion of the Upper Lachlan Shire Council that the Capital Region Area Consultative Committee has been extremely effective in assisting both Council and the various local groups to establish whether their potential project matched the criteria for Regional Partnership Program funding. The provision of support and assistance by the Capital Region Area Consultative Committee in the preparation of valid and credible applications has been a major advantage both to Council and to the local community groups that have sought assistance under the Regional Partnerships Program. Upper Lachlan Shire Council was successful with two projects under the Regional Partnerships Program in 2006 and 2008, namely the: 1. Taralga Community Service Centre - this project principally involved the purchase of the former Taralga Post Office and renovations of the building to provide a Taralga Community Service Centre with access to Post Office, Medicare Office, Tourist Information Centre, all Council Services, Bureau of Meteorology and office facilities. The Taralga Community Centre has been a highly successful project in promoting Upper Lachlan Shire Council to the Taralga community and allowed postal services to remain in the town of Taralga. 2. Crookwell Integrated Medical Centre - this project primarily involved the purchase and fit-out of the former Banfield House Aged Care Hostel at Crookwell, with the aim of establishing a one-stop, walk-in/walk-out fully Integrated Medical Centre.
