Programs may be cancelled due to lack of pre-registration. Registration can be handled in person at the Recreation Center at Aberdeen Lake Park (301 Lake Park Crossing), or by faxing (910-944-1119), or emailing ([email protected]) a registration form and paying online (townofaberdeen.net). The Aberdeen Parks and Recreation Youth Financial Need Policy states that no child of a tax paying Aberdeen resident will be turned away from a program due to lack of ability to pay. Registration is open until deadline, or spaces available are full. Registration will be handled on a first paid, first served basis. PARKS Aberdeen Lake Park 301 Lake Park Crossing 79 acres The Recreation Center, Pages Lake (39 acres), picnic shelter with grills, trail (1.5 miles), gazebo, playground, and open space. Berkley Park 704 Keyser Street 0.9 acres Neighborhood park with a playground and picnic shelter with tables and a grill. Colonial Heights Park 504 Park Drive 5 acres Two lighted baseball/softball fields with bleachers, concession stand with restrooms, playground, and picnic tables. Sharpe Memorial Park 200 E. Maple Avenue 2 acres Neighborhood park with swings, playground, and picnic shelter. Ray’s Mill Park 837 Saunders Blvd 32 acres Powell’s Pond (14 Acres), picnic shelter with tables and grill, paved trail (.2 miles), pier. Malcolm Blue Farm 1177 Bethesda Road 7.5 acres Historic farm house, museum, grist mill, pack house, concession stand with restrooms.

PARK FACILITY RENTALS All outdoor park facilities are available on a first come, first served basis. However, several facilities such as the Recreation Center, ballfields, shelters, and gazebo can be reserved for a fee. Please contact the front desk assistants regarding rental fees, rules, and availability. Reservations will be handled on a first paid, first served basis.

RESIDENT POLICY Resident and Non-Resident rates are based on whether individuals registering/ renting pay Town of Aberdeen property taxes. Those who pay Town of Aberdeen property taxes receive the resident rate; those who do not, despite the physical address, pay the non-resident rate. A portion of Aberdeen property taxes helps provide Parks and Recreation facilities and programs. Therefore, those who pay these taxes have already Contributed toward facilities and programs, and will receive a lower rate. For non-residents, the department does offer a membership program. For the fee of $50/year, each member of the household will receive

resident rates for all programs registered for during that one year time frame. Participants over the age of 16 must have a fishing license. The program operates just like a library. Register for free to receive a tackle loaner ID card, which allows you to check out a rod and reel. Anglers under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian complete the registration form. First-time participants under 16 years of age will receive a free mini tackle box. Tackle loaner ID cards can be used at other participating sites in North Carolina, but rods and reels must be returned to the original loaner site. Visit ncwildlife.org for a list of other participating sites. Rods and reels can be checked out at the Aberdeen Parks and Recreation Department, must be checked out and in during our office hours (M-F, 8-5), and may be loaned

overnight. We do not sell bait. Enjoy fishing at Aberdeen Lake Park or Ray’s Mill Park! Youth Programs *All youth programs require pre-registration* CHEERLEADING Ages 4-12 (as of 8/31/21 for football) (as of 1/1/22 for basketball)

Flag Football and Basketball seasons are not far away and we are looking for boys and girls that can show their team spirit for Aberdeen’s flag football and basketball teams. The cheerleaders will learn basic cheers, jumps, and kicks.

REINDEER FUN RUN Date: Saturday, December 4th Location: Downtown Aberdeen

The Reindeer Fun Run is a FUN community event for everyone from serious runners to recreational walkers, families, and pets. Join in the holiday cheer with the 5k Fun Run/Walk, 12ks of Christmas and the Kids 800m Egg Nog Jog. The farmhouse will be open and decorated in the fashion of the 1800s. Music and light refreshments will be provided. The pack house will be open with children’s activities such as letters to Santa with feather pens and making bird feeders. The museum will also be open to visitors. T-BALL Ages 4-5 (as of 8/31/21)

This league introduces your little one to the game of baseball, and focuses on the very basic fundamentals. Practices and games will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.

Registration Deadline: August 13th or until full Dates: August 21st - Beginning of October GIRLS YOUTH VOLLEYBALL Location: Colonial Heights Park Ages 7-14 (as of 8/31/21) $12 Aberdeen Residents $25 Non-Residents Girls will learn the rules and develop important skills for the game of volleyball! Age divisions will consist of 7-10 and 11-14 year olds. Practices and games will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for the 11-14 age division while the 7-10 age division will be on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Flag Football is an exciting co-ed sport. Teams in our 9-12 and 13-15 age divisions will play against others from Pinehurst and Southern Pines, while our 6-8 age division will only play other Aberdeen teams. Practices and games will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

YOUTH BASKETBALL Ages 4-15 (as of 1/1/22)

This league will emphasize learning the basic developmental skill and improving existing skills of basketball. Youth Basketball also focuses on having fun and learning how to be a team. Everyone should expect one week night and a Saturday practice or game. The exact week day schedule will depend on the number of participants. Evaluations for the 9-12 and 13-15 age groups will be on November 22nd.

Registration Deadline: November 12th YOUTH KICKBALL Dates: November 22nd - Mid February Ages 4-15 (as of 5/1/22) Location: Aberdeen Elementary School $12 Aberdeen Residents Youth will learn and enjoy the playground game $25 Non-Resident of kickball! Age groups will consist of co-ed 4-6, 7-10, and 11-15 year olds. Practices and games will be held at Colonial Heights Park on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and possibly Saturday mornings.
