Overview Monroe Virtual Academy is a Monroe School District Alternative Learning Experience program created to meet the diverse needs of Monroe Students in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. MVA offers a strong academic curriculum focused on meeting individual needs. Students, parents, and the MVA staff work together to develop an individualized learning plan including activities designed to prepare students for future opportunities. Families accepted into MVA are motivated individuals who are willing to take an active role in their learning with course content determined by the student's individual learning needs. Eligible students at the high school level also have the option of pursuing out of school learning credit, Sno-Isle Tech, Running Start, etc. while enrolled at MVA. Once enrolled, all students/families are assigned an Advisor who knows them personally and meets with them regularly to review class progress, provide instruction on time management, goal setting, decision making, emotional awareness, academic planning and building a growth mindset. Individual learning plans with student input encourage student ownership of learning and personal responsibility. Additionally, we have purchased content, to be sorted through and implemented by our staff, from BYU Independent Study and Florida Virtual School – Global Studies.
