CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION Divisions of Boating and Waterways, Historic Preservation and Off-Highway Vehicles News Release For Immediate Release Contact: Apr. 5, 2017 Aaron Wright Sector Superintendent [email protected] (530) 538-2200 Summer Recreation at Lake Oroville State Recreation Area OROVILLE, Calif. -- The emergency effort to repair the Lake Oroville spillways will not interfere with most outdoor recreation this summer at the lake, and with the exception of the Spillway Boat Launch Ramp, all boat launch ramps are open, announced California State Parks (DPR) and the Department of Water Resources. All campgrounds also are open and floating campsites are back on the lake and available for rental. Some areas near the dam will continue to be off-limits to visitors as crews work to repair or replace spillways damaged in February during high runoff. Outdoor activities available at Lake Oroville this summer include: Campgrounds: All campgrounds are now open with site-specific reservations available at Bidwell Canyon, Loafer Creek and Lime Saddle. Campers without reservations are still welcome on a day-to-day basis to any campsites that have not been previously reserved. Campground showers have been equipped with token machines. Each site will have a unique, collectable token which can also be used at other participating state parks. Trails: Lake Oroville has a number of trails for hiking, biking and equestrian use. Trails around the Diversion Pool and Hyatt Power Plant likely will be closed throughout the summer, although DPR may make changes to other trails to accommodate more hikers and help compensate for the closures. -

A unique aspect of this incident was the fact that it happened during a flood scenario well within its design and operational procedures, prompting research into its causes and determining methods to prevent similar events from reoccurring. In this study, a hydroclimatic analysis of Oroville Dam’s catchment is conducted, along with a review of related design and operational manuals. 12. Aquatic Biological Resources 12.1 Introduction This chapter describes the aquatic habitat and fish resources found within the Extended, Secondary, and Primary study areas. Descriptions and maps of these three study areas are provided in Chapter 1 Introduction. Fish species of management concern include special-status species and species that have substantial tribal, commercial or recreation value. The biology and life history of these species are described in Appendix 12A Aquatic Species Life Histories. Permits and authorizations for aquatic biological resources are presented in Chapter 4 Environmental Compliance and Permit Summary. The regulatory setting for aquatic biological resources is presented in Appendix 4A Environmental Compliance. The descriptions and evaluation of potential impacts in this chapter are presented using a broad, generalized approach for the Secondary and Extended study areas, whereas the Primary Study Area is presented in greater detail. Potential local and regional impacts from constructing, operating, and maintaining the alternatives are described and compared to applicable significance thresholds. Mitigation measures are provided for identified significant or potentially significant impacts, where appropriate. The descriptions of species and biological and hydrodynamic processes in this chapter frequently use the terms “Delta” and “San Francisco Estuary.” The Delta refers to the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, as legally defined in the Delta Protection Act. The San Francisco Estuary refers to the portion of the Sacramento-San Joaquin rivers watershed downstream of Chipps Island that is influenced by tidal action, and where fresh water and salt water mix. The estuary includes Suisun, San Pablo, and San Francisco bays. 12.2 Environmental Setting/Affected Environment This section, which is organized by study area, describes fish and aquatic resources that would be affected by the implementation of the alternatives considered in this EIR/EIS. -

July 13, 2018 NOTICE OF PREPARATION Environmental Impact Report For the Proposed SWP Water Supply Contract Amendments for Water Management and California WaterFix July 13, 2018 INTRODUCTION Pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the Department of Water Resources (DWR) will be the Lead Agency and will prepare an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the proposed State Water Project Water Supply Contract Amendments for Water Management and California WaterFix (proposed project). As more fully discussed below, this proposed project includes amending certain provisions of the State Water Resources Development System (SWRDS) Water Supply Contracts (Contracts). SWRDS (defined in Water Code Section 12931), or more commonly referred to as the State Water Project (SWP), was enacted into law in the Burns-Porter Act, passed by the Legislature in 1959 and approved by the voters in 1960. DWR constructed and currently operates and maintains the SWP, a system of storage and conveyance facilities that 1 provide water to 29 State Water Contractors known as the Public Water Agencies (PWAs).
