Every year I am impressed by how many of our graduates have overcome significant obstacles to complete a college certificate or degree, but this year I am particularly proud of each of you. Despite a global pandemic and major disruptions to the college and the economy, you have persevered and are now a college graduate. I hope you will take a moment to reflect on your accom- plishment. I also hope that you will take time to say “thank you” to the people who helped you get here today—friends and family, teachers and mentors—all those who supported you, encouraged you and allowed you to learn. As you reflect on the people who have helped you, I ask you to think about how you can return the favor. Consider the ways that you—perhaps now or perhaps later in your life— can help others achieve as you have. On behalf of our faculty and staff, thank you for choosing FRCC. We are proud of your accomplishments. Whether you plan to continue your education, begin a career or start a new one, we all wish that your graduation from FRCC is just the first of many successes for you. Sincerely, Andrew R. Dorsey, President 5 FRCC Awards the Following Degrees: Associate of Science (AS) Designed for transfer into a baccalaureate degree program in a math or science field (e.g. engineering, mathematics, biological and physical sciences including astronomy, biology, chemistry, geology and physics). Associate of Designed for students who want to complete a broad program of both career General Studies (AGS) and transfer courses without specialization. Transferability of the Associate of General Studies depends on the courses taken and the requirements of the receiving institution. Associate of Designed to prepare students to enter either skilled or paraprofessional Applied Sciences (AAS) occupations, or to upgrade their current employment. These programs are not intended to transfer to baccalaureate programs, but certain courses may be accepted toward a baccalaureate degree at some institutions. Certificates More than 100 skilled or paraprofessional occupational certificates are offered at Front Range Community College. Graduation Requirements and Honors Certificate & Degree Front Range Community College is very proud of the students who have met Requirements the requirements for graduation. We provide the following information to ac- knowledge their accomplishments. Students awarded a certificate or degree from Front Range Community College have completed the following, among other, requirements: 1. Complete a minimum of 60 semester hours for the AA, AS, or AGS Degree, or the number of hours specified for a particular AAS degree or certificate; the hours are a combination of required and elective courses from a variety of disciplines. 2. Earn a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (“C”) for all course- work that applies to the degree or certificate. 6 Commencement 2020–2021 WESTMINSTER CAMPUS & BRIGHTON CENTER Graduation Requirements and Honors Honors Phi Theta Kappa graduates who are members of Alpha Mu Psi, the FRCC Westminster Campus chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor soci- ety for two-year colleges, are acknowledged for their scholarship (GPA of 3.5 or above at time of induction) and for service to the community. Each wears a gold stole on the commencement robe. Graduation Honors Graduation honors recognize outstanding academic achievement throughout a student’s academic career. The honors are awarded to students who complete the requirements for an associate degree, complete at least 30 credit hours at FRCC, and earn a 3.5 or better cumulative grade point average (GPA) for com- pleted college level courses. The Graduation Honors are: • cum laude (with honor) 3.50–3.749 GPA • magna cum laude (with great honor) 3.75–3.99 GPA • summa cum laude (with highest honor) 4.00 GPA Due to publication deadlines, for the spring commencement ceremony, honors are publicized and recognized based on the completed coursework at the end of the previous semester (fall). Final honors (for diploma printing) will be determined after all grades have posted for spring. Summa cum laude graduate candidates wear a gold cord on the commencement robe. Honoring our Graduating veterans wear a red, white, and blue cord. The colors denote the graduating veterans valor, excellence, and sacrifice these individuals have exemplified in their ser- vice to the U.S. Armed Forces. A note about this Although we strive for accuracy, errors do occur. We apologize for any errors or graduation program omissions. Because of printing deadlines, the names included in this program were submitted for publication before all graduation requirements could be ver- ified. Therefore, inclusion in this program cannot, in itself, be considered proof that a degree or certificate was actually awarded. FRCC reserves the right to use, in future college publications, any photographs or video taken by college personnel during these ceremonies. 7 P-TECH – Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools Congratulations to our Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools (P-TECH) graduates!
