April Meeting/Fly-In April 2018 April 15th Air & MIlitary Museum Chapter 12:00 Food 2:00 Meeting 732 Bring a dish to go with burgers

Send newsletter items to: [email protected] A Note From Randy

Well we had snow in April. Hopefully, that will be the end of that nonsense and it will warm up and we can get into fly-in season!

Speaking of fly-in season, at last month’s meeting it was decided to host a fly-in at the Air Museum in lieu of our normal meeting this month. Rick Wantz and the McDaniels are going to cook burgers and dogs. Please bring side dishes as normal. For those that can, we will be starting at 12:00. Please come when you can. Rick and I intend to be there by 11:00 to get things set up. I still intend to show the video even if things are busy and if things are slow, we will do our normal meeting (both will be around 2:00 like normal). We will be charging fly-in attendees (but not our chapter members) $5.00 for the meal and an additional $5.00 if they want to tour the museum.

We hope this will help attract some new members to our chapter.

See everyone on Sunday! Thanks, Randy MEMBERS DON’T FORGET TO WEAR YOUR NAMETAG!!! 732 Fly-Abouts

Nothing like an afternoon flight over the lakes in the Natural State Landing a Cedar Keys Video submitted by Alan Smith

Anyone flying to Cedar Keys this Spring? Al Smith submitted this video of a strip that he has flown to a few times. He shared that it looks shorter from the air and that on downwind the looks like it is way too short because it is a wide runway.

Be sure and watch all the way to the end of the video!

Typically we will have some aviation centered presentations during dinner that often makes us quite proud of those that serve the aviation Come Fly With Us indistry and military. We also like to bring in live music for Friday nights.

Saturday is the Main Event! You won't want to miss this... We always start off the day with a good breakfast and then pretty much until Sundown, things are simply going all the time. We always end the day with a gathering that regionally has become a tradition. The awesome At the Flying party band from NWA, Got It Covered always puts on an awesome show. I took my friend and co-worker Diego for an EAA Eagle Flight today over Lincoln and Prairie Grove. He kept saying "This is so cool" during the flight. If you are interested in sharing a flight with someone or would like information about the EAA Eagle Flight program please click in link below. Let's not keep the joy of aviation to ourselves!

EAA’s Eagle Flights® is a free introductory flight experience and informal mentoring program designed to welcome and encourage adults who want to discover flying, but don’t know how or where to take that first step. It begins with a hands-on introduction, where you’ll fly with a local EAA-member pilot who will let you follow along at the controls of the airplane to get a feel for what being a pilot is all about.

After the flight, he or she can help you learn more about how to get involved in your local aviation community, including the next steps you can take on the path to becoming a pilot.

The best part? The whole experience is free. No sales. No pressure. Just a whole lot of fun and education with a big take-home point: Your dream of flying is a lot closer than you think. BECOME A MENTOR PILOT

There are many reasons to become an Eagle Flights mentor pilot, but perhaps the strongest and most compelling is to pay it forward to our aviation community. For many of us, having a positive role model may have meant the difference between pursuing our dream of flying and merely wishing we had done so. As an Eagle Flights mentor pilot, you have the opportunity to make that kind of difference in someone else’s life. You have probably provided some informal mentoring to someone in the past. The Eagle Flights program was designed to build on and reinforce the knowledge and experience you already have while offering additional tools and resources to help you share The Spirit of Aviation. To fly a passenger in the EAA Eagle Flight® program, you must:

● Be an EAA member. ● Have a valid airman’s certificate (sport pilot or greater). ● Possess a current medical certificate (if applicable). ● Be current to carry passengers in the aircraft you plan to use. ● Have a current biennial flight review. ● Conduct flights in an aircraft that is in airworthy condition. ● Have Aircraft Passenger Liability Insurance for the aircraft used (owned, rented, or borrowed). ● Adhere to all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations. ● Complete an Eagle Flight registration form before the flight, signed by you and your participant. EAA Eagle Flight Participant Benefits

EAA Eagle Flight participants benefits free from EAA.
