And an agreement was, in consequence, entered into by the Parish with Mr Hendy to resign and yield up to him the plot of ground then and now used as part of the Parish Highway leading from the Turnpike road at Bissick at the Southern end of the Dwelling House erected by John Crowl across the river towards Hill Head and extending from the said Turnpike road across such river up to the boundry line of the said Manor of Trethurffe in consideration of the Sum of Ten Pounds to be paid by him to the said Parish and of his yielding up and allowing to be appropriated such portion of the site of the said Poor House as might be requisite for a proper approach or entrance to the said then intended Bridge. And it was further agreed between the Parish and Mr Hendy that the said Parish should at once yield up all such interest as they might have or claim on the said Poor House to Mr Hendy. And whereas the Bridge agreeably to the foregoing resolution has been built and is now reported by the said Committee to be in all respects completed and the accounts respecting the same have this day been produced and are hereby approved of And whereas the required spot of land hitherto forming part of the site of the said Poor House has been given up by Mr Hendy and has been appropriated and used for the purpose of forming the approach and entrance to the said Bridge as aforesaid in accordance with the agreement, on his part, as the same is now marked out leaving an intermediate space of Thirteen feet between the Southern side of the said Bridge at the immediate front of its entrance and the said dwelling House occupied by the said John Crowl. It is now resolved and agreed, on the part of the Parish that from henceforth the said piece of land so used hitherto as a part of the Highway of this Parish leading from the Turnpike road by the Southern side of the Dwelling House so built and occupied by John Crowl and extending from such Turnpike road across the river up to the boundry of the Manor of Trethurffe as above is mentioned shall be, and the same is hereby, on the part of the said Parish, agreed and declared to be by them abandoned and surrendered and yielded up (as parcel of the said Manor of Trethurffe) to Mr Hendy as High Lord of the said Manor and his Heirs for ever such piece or parcel of land [image 971] being considered as resigned to and received by him in exchange for the said portion of the site of the said Poor House so used and appropriated for the purpose of the said Bridge as aforesaid the inhabitants of this Parish and the Public at large having by the erection of the said Bridge a very much improved road over and across the said river provided for their use in lieu of and substitution for the (at all times) very inconvenient and in fact, oftentimes, dangerous medium of communication or passage hitherto accessible to, or available by them [signed] Clobery S.
