Corona Newcomer’s Club 1966-1970 273 textual records | .5 linear feet | one box

In February, 1966 the City of Corona Recreation Department originated a program to bring together recent arrivals to the area so they might learn more of their new town and its people. The sponsoring Recreation Department provided the meeting place, professional assistance and unfailing encouragement.

The group originally sponsored three annual events, an Autumn Tea, an Anniversary Luncheon on Valentine’s Day and an Installation Party in May. They raised money through dues and a rummage sale. The group purchased items for the teen center at the Civic Center and also provided money for the purchase of a piano for the center which was never purchased.

President Harriet Yates, obit 12/6/00, 12/15/00, Club was active from 1966 to 1971
