New rights sales division at Peter Lang

International Academic Publisher Peter Lang has appointed Claudia Stegmann to the newly created role of International Rights Sales Man- ager. Stegmann will grow the company’s rights and permissions busi- ness (print and digital) across all titles, and reports to Group CEO Kelly Shergill. Stegman is based at the group’s German publishing division in Frankfurt am Main. For the past seven years, she had the same position at German non-fiction publisher Schwabenverlag AG. Peter Lang comprises five independent publishing divisions in five coun- tries — Peter Lang AG (Switzerland), Peter Lang GmbH (Germany), Pe- ter Lang Ltd. (UK), Peter Lang Publishing Inc. (US) and PIE — Peter Lang SA (Belgium) — that publish around 1800 new titles in English, German, French and other languages every year. A central, group-wide rights sales management is new to Peter Lang and part of a structural realignment after a management buyout in 2015. In addition to the sale of foreign rights and the licensing of Peter Lang con- tent for republication, Stegmann will co-ordinate the implementation of a global rights management environment in Klopotek. Peter Lang intro- duced the publishing software group-wide across all locations in sum- mer 2016.
