I have been Patron of the Spinal Injuries Association since 1984. During the past 35 years, I have seen the charity develop and expand in response to the needs of spinal cord injured people and their families. As a result, more people are receiving the support and care they need to lead IXO¿OOHGOLYHVDIWHULQMXU\RUGLDJQRVLV

However, two thirds of newly injured people do not receive the vital specialist care they need and are therefore at risk of serious and life-threatening health complications. To respond to this situation, the Spinal Injuries Association has established its innovative Nurse Specialist project. With your help, the charity will extend this successful pilot and build the evidence base that will drive lasting change to policy and practice. The project you are supporting this evening will transform care for spinal cord injured people. The impact will be life changing, even life saving, for many thousands of people.

Together we can ensure that all spinal cord injured people have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Thank you for your support and I hope you have an enjoyable evening. Independent financial research

RACE DAY

ACK IN JULY we had another incrediblyy successful race day at Ascot. A terrific Bturnout helped raise a record breakingg £65,000 (with the help of a substantial anonymous donation) towards this year’s charity, Spinal Injuries Association. A very special thank you must be given to Rob and Sarah Chandler for sponsoring our race. Their incredibly generous support enabled us to hold this ever popular event. Thanks must also go to Ben Malone and Martin Pope for filling the room, Zoey for tipping so many winners and of course Narinder and Michele, without whose super- efficient organisation the day wouldn’t have been anything like as much fun. Please register your interest for next year’s Race Day, Friday 24th July, with Narinder Uniacke or any member of the Committee. Transforming Transforming Care Lives
