To achieve this, it was decided that each room will be done up in a unique design. This is a super opportunity for an architect/interior designer to show- case his/her talent in numerous ways in the same project! To get to experiment with materials, details and to exploit the quirky constraints that each room throws up – this is a non- stop, continuous challenge. The name of the hotel has been synonymous with the rich heritage of Hyderabad. The Sixth Nizam of Hyderabad had bestowed the title of ‘Nawab Arastu Yar Jung’ to his Chief Physician and Advisor Dr. Abdul Husain, whose legacy of being a philanthropist and offering warm hospitality to people has been kept alive by ‘Hotel Arastu’. The word ‘Arastu’ is a Persian word, meaning a learned person, a translation of the Greek Philosopher, Scientist and Father of Medicine, Aristotle. Arastu has been the family name of Dr. Abdul Husain’s descendants ever since he was honoured with the title of ‘Nawab Arastu Yar Jung’. The hotel offers 30 rooms in the heart of Hyderabad – Nampally. There is also a restaurant and a multipurpose hall (accommodating 70-100 pax). The multipurpose hall can be used for various purposes, like small get- togethers, parties, large groups for family functions, and can be converted into a dining area as it has an attached kitchen. The design and treatment of the interiors are in keeping up with the latest changes, trends and advancements in the hospitality industry. Thus, the rooms have been thoughtfully designed to delight the patron. Each deluxe room has been designed differently in terms of decor, to break the redundancy and is truly one-of-a-kind. So each time you stay there it is a different experience! Right from the front door, as one enters the hotel, one experiences a fusion of modern and traditional ambience. The décor has been tastefully done in a contemporary style with a touch of the rich Hyderabad heritage that is displayed on its ‘Wall of Hyderabad’ and through the well-trained and cordial staff. Lot of pleasing and eye-catching but subtle and not-in- your-face elements have been juxtaposed in the reception, the lobbies and the waiting areas. At the beginning of the project, Hotel Arastu was a rather shoddy, nondescript hotel in terms of the infrastructure. The metamorphosis it has undergone after its renovation is spectacular. It would not be inappropriate to state that this effort at renovation may become a game-changer in the languid landscape of budget hotels in the locality of Nampally and its surroundings. Wake up call for the competitors! Regards SANJEEV JAIN Round Square Architects 2nd Floor, Jain Nivas, 1-2-593/58, Lane 5, Street 4, Domalguda, Hyderabad - 29 T.S. Cell: 9912271119
