MILLER-KEYSTONE BLOOD CENTER AND CUMULUS RADIO PARTNER FOR 2nd ANNUAL 24-HOUR BLOOD DRIVE

LEHIGH VALLEY, PA – Miller-Keystone Blood Center and Cumulus Radio (WLEV 100.7 and Cat Country 96.1) are partnering for a 24-hour Blood Drive! The second-annual event will take place at Miller-Keystone’s Bethlehem Donor Center (1465

Valley Center Parkway) and Reading Donor Center (2745A Leiscz’s Bridge Road) from 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8 till 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9.

“The summer months are traditionally a challenging time for community blood centers throughout the nation,” explains Marie Clemens, Director of Communications. “Donations typically go down due to family vacations and increased travel, while usage typically goes up as the result of a higher occurrence of accidents.”

All individuals registering to donate will receive a limited-edition, 24-hour blood drive t-shirt courtesy of Faulkner

Chevrolet Cadillac and Penn Pizza Restaurants , and may enter to win one of four Grand Prizes including a set of four (4) Grandstand tickets for the 400 at Pocono Raceway, a set of two (2) tickets to see comedians Kevin Nealon and Norm MacDonald at the Santander Arena, or a set of two (2) tickets to see Darius Rucker, or Duran Duran & Culture Club at Musikfest!

According to Sean Tinney, Director of Marketing, the 24-hour event will also include hourly raffle drawings for prizes such as tickets to see the Iron Pigs, Reading Fightin’ Phils, Phillies, and Lehigh Valley Phantoms; gift certificates to area restaurants and merchants, and more. The day will begin with a live remote at the Bethlehem donor center hosted by Cat Country’s Sam Malone and Becca Lynn, and will also include a visit from WLEV on-air personalities Josh and Scott, delectable treats and more.

“Miller-Keystone Blood Center is sincerely grateful to Cumulus Radio for their continued support,” said Tinney. “Our goal is to collect 500 donations during this 24-hour Blood Drive, and we encourage all eligible donors to schedule an appointment to join us for this exciting second annual event.”

Clemens notes that while blood donors often take a break from donating, the need for red cells, platelets and plasma products is constant. “We require more than 450 donors every day to meet the needs of accident victims, premature infants, cancer patients, and others in need of life-saving blood transfusions in our community hospitals. Blood is perishable, and there is no substitute – the only source is the volunteer blood donor.”
