ALTO is a virtual voice-over tool for re-versioning video content into multiple languages using text-to-speech voice synthesis.

Zillah is leading this strand of exploration for BBC News Labs, looking at how the BBC might use emerging VR consumer technology to create new, immersive news experiences. This project kicked off in March 2015. It is focussing on the journalism applications, craft, and value to audiences.

Window on the newsroom is a prototyping workstream looking at ways to allow journalists to find relevant content quickly with the help of machine learning, automatic metadata enrichment and structured data.
