P a g e | 2 Phil & Lori Burress chatted with Da n: IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR Dan: I got your email from the BCCW Newsletter. We recently acquired a 1971 TR6 and are excited to get it back on the road. It's been sitting for 6 years but it runs and is unmolested. Mo major rust that I can see- floorboards, rockers, around headlights & taillights are all rot-free from what I can tell. The suspension to frame mounts look good, too. This is a joint project and ownership with my wife, but I will be doing most of the wrench-turning, though she is not afraid to get in there, either! I have done a lot of car work over the years and last year, I acquired a 1997 Miata and got it all fixed up. Attached a pic of it, even if it's Japanese!

P a g e | 11 for their sports car—the SP250 Dart with it’s V8, Tim Enloe has taken and it’s limousine, the Majestic Major. possession of a 1973 After the acquisition by Jaguar, Sir William Lyon’s designed the new limo and released the DS 420 British Daimler DS420 in 1969. It would be based upon an extended Jaguar Mark 10 chassis, sharing identical Limousine! mechanicals including engine, transmission and suspension.
The body panels and interior would be new, but based on a merger of Jaguar and Daimler design. They were produced from 1969-1992 with just over 4,000 completed limos built. Each was built to order—a fully “bespoke” and one-at-a-time hand built car. When I was 16 years old, I first saw a Daimler DS420 limo; to say it captured my attention would The DS420 car would be a British Royal standard be an understatement! for over four decades—even having three appear in the most recent Royal wedding.
The British Daimler (pronounced Dime-ler ) is not related in any way to the German Daimler Company except for a brief financial transaction in the early 1900’s. The Daimler was an early British luxury brand positioned alongside Bentley and slightly under the Rolls Royce. The official Royal cars were all Daimlers until the Queen’s rather recent switch to Bentley— following the closing of Daimler manufacture in the early 2000’s.
Around 1960, Daimler was essentially purchased by Jaguar (Jag was then owned by British Leyland). At that point, Daimler was best known The DS 420 has also been widely used in films and television—including most of the James Bond films. I stumbled upon a 1972 model about two years ago and jumped on the opportunity to own this distinguished and disguised Jag.
It was originally the official mayor’s car of Cheltenham, England; then was imported to the US in the mid 1980s. It sat in a private garage for many years before it found a new home in Arkansas, then finding its way to me.
