COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS RECALL JOONAS KORPISALO FROM AHL’S , ASSIGN GOALTENDER ANTON FORSBERG

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The have recalled goaltender Joonas Korpisalo from the ’s Cleveland Monsters and assigned goaltender Anton Forsberg to the club’s AHL affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Korpisalo, 22, stopped 25-of-27 shots in a 3-2 shootout win over Chicago on Saturday to improve to 6-5-2 with a 2.89 goals-against average and .902 save percentage with the Monsters this season. He has registered a 14-15-4 mark with a 2.63 GAA, .906 SV% and two SO in 34 career AHL games with Lake Erie/Cleveland over the past two seasons. Korpisalo also went 6-2 with a 2.96 GAA and .898 SV% in nine playoff games a year ago to help the Monsters capture the championship.

The Pori, Finland native is 2-1-0 with a 3.44 goals-against average and .893 save percentage in four contests with the Blue Jackets this season. He made his NHL debut in 2015-16, going 16-11-4 with a 2.60 goals-against average and .920 save percentage in 31 contests. Selected by Columbus in the third round, 62nd overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft, he finished third among NHL rookie in wins and save percentage and was fourth in games played and saves.

Forsberg, 24, is 13-9-2 with a 2.29 goals-against average, .926 save percentage and a shutout in 26 games with the Monsters this season. Selected to participate in the AHL All-Star Classic on January 29-30 at the PPL Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania, he is second in the AHL in save percentage, eighth in goals-against average and ninth in wins (tied) and minutes played (1,495).

The Härnösand, Sweden native owns a 59-27-8 record with a 2.20 goals-against average, .923 save percentage and six shutouts in 101 career AHL games with the Monsters and . He led the Monsters to the 2016 AHL Calder Cup after finishing with a 9-0-0 record, 1.34 GAA, .949 SV% and two shutouts in 10 contests. Columbus’ seventh round selection, 188th overall, in the 2011 NHL Draft, he has posted a 1-8-0 record with a 4.07 goals-against and .879 save percentage in 10 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, including stopping 27-of-31 shots in a 5-3 loss at Carolina in his season debut on January 10.

The Blue Jackets return to action following Sunday’s NHL All-Star Game in Los Angeles on Tuesday when they visit the New York Rangers. Game time at Madison Square Garden is 7 p.m. ET.
