THIS YEAR IN PAC-12 VOLLEYBALL NCAA TOURNAMENT RESULTS • STANFORD claimed its nation-leading eighth NCAA title and second in three NCAA First Round Results • Nov. 29-Nov. 30 years, giving the Pac-12 its 16th women’s volleyball title all-time, the most for New Mexico State at #15 OREGON ....ORE, 3-1 (25-22, 18-25, 25-21, 25-11) any conference. The Cardinal highlighted eight Pac-12 teams that earned ARIZONA vs. Missouri .............................MIZZOU, 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-18) NCAA Tournament bids this season, the most of any league, marking the 19th- consecutive year at least six teams have participated in the “Big Dance” and WASHINGTON vs. St. Mary’s ........... WASH, 3-1 (25-22, 25-17, 24-26, 25-22) the fifth time in the last six years at least eight received postseason invitations. UTAH vs. Denver ........................................UTAH, 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 27-25) COLORADO vs. South Carolina ...... SC, 3-2 (34-32,19-25,25-12,13-25,15-13) • Six Pac-12 teams ended the season ranked in the final AVCA Coaches Poll Alabama State at #1 STANFORD ................. STAN, 3-0 (25-10, 25-17, 25-15) with national champion and Pac-12 Champion Stanford claiming the top spot Northern Arizona at #16 WASHINGTON STATE ....WSU, 3-1 (25-23,25-15,22-25,25-21) while OREGON is No. 9, the first time the Ducks are in the final top 10 since Samford at #11 USC ....................................USC, 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-14) 2012 and just the fourth time ever. WASHINGTON STATE ends at No. 16, its highest final ranking since 2002 and just the third time it appears in the final ranking since that year. WASHINGTON is No. 18, USC is No. 21 and ARIZONA NCAA Second Round Results • Nov. 30-Dec. 1 is tied for 25th. Baylor at OREGON ......................ORE, 3-2 (25-18,13-25,25-17,22-25,13-15) WASHINGTON vs. Creighton ...................... WASH, 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-23) • Stanford was the No. 1 overall seed, marking the first time since 2009 the UTAH at BYU ................................................BYU, 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-18) top seeded team in the tournament won the national championship. USC was LMU at STANFORD ..................................... STAN, 3-1 (18-25,25-23,25-20,25-16) most exciting matches, including the Huskies upsetting Big East Champion and No. 9-seed Creighton on the road to get to the regional semifinal. The Ducks took down second-seeded Minnesota for the second time this season, NCAA Semifinal • Dec. 13,Target Center, Minneapolis winning an epic 41-39 second set, which led to a 3-1 victory in Minneapolis to #1 STANFORD vs. #2 BYU .............................. STAN, 3-0 (25-15,25-15,25-18) claim a spot in the regional final. NCAA Championship • Dec. 15, Target Center, Minneapolis • Stanford won its 18th all-time Pac-12 crown going a perfect 20-0. Junior #1 STANFORD vs. #7 Nebraska .. STAN, 3-2 (28-26,22-25,25-16,15-25,15-12) Kathryn Plummer was tabbed the Pac-12 Player of the Year for the second- straight year. Teammates Jenna Gray and Morgan Hentz were repeated as the Pac-12 Setter and Libero of the Year, respectively. Stanford’s Kevin Hambly was tabbed the Pac-12 Coach of the Year and USC’s Raquel Lázaro was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. • Plummer was selected AVCA National Player of the Year for the second- straight year, becoming the first player since 2001 and 2002 to win the honor in back-to-back seasons and just the fourth overall. Plummer headlined a list of 13 AVCA All-Americans from the Pac-12, representing seven teams.
