Utah Makes Big Statement to Open 2019 Campaign – Unranked Utah opened the 2019 campaign with a pair of top-25 wins marking the first time in program history it had beaten two AVCA-ranked teams in the opening weekend. The Utes topped No. 7 Kentucky (3-0) and No. 23 Cal Poly (3-2).

UCLA Football Rallies for 67-63 Win Despite Record-Setting Performance by Washington State’s Anthony Gordon – Trailing by 32 points (49-17) in the third quarter, UCLA mounted a furious rally to down Washington State, 67-63. The 130 points were a Pac-12 record for most combined points scored in a game, while WSU QB Anthony Gordon established a Pac-12 single-game record with nine touchdown passes.

UCLA Soccer’s Milan Iloski Scores School-Record Five Goals in a Game – UCLA forward Milan Iloski scored a school-record five goals in the Bruins’ 5-2 win over State. The five goals tied for the most by any NCAA Division I player in 2019 and were the most by any Pac-12 player in at least 21 years.

Pac-12 Announces Creation of Pac-12 Coast-to-Coast Challenge – The Conference unveiled its plans to host the Pac-12 Coast-to-Coast Challenge, a men’s and women’s basketball non-conference scheduling series to debut as a quadruple-header at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in December 2020.

Colorado Cross Country Returns to Top of Conference – Colorado won the Pac-12 team championship for the seventh time in its nine seasons since joining the Conference, anchored by an individual title from senior Joe Klecker, the first Buff to win the men’s race since CU joined the league in 2011.

Stanford Cross Country Sweeps Top 3 En Route to Dominant Pac-12 Title – Led by senior Fiona ’Keeffe’s individual win, Stanford had the top-3 finishers and four in the top 10 to capture its first Conference title since 2010. The Cardinal’s 27 points were the fifth-fewest in the event’s 34-year history. NOVEMBER 3

Washington State Volleyball Claims First Sweep in 30+ Years – Following a 3-2 win a month earlier in , Washington State completed its first regular-season sweep of USC since 1986, taking a 3-1 victory in Pullman. WSU was led by eventual AVCA National Freshman of the Year Magda Jehlarova, the first national freshman award winner in program history.

No. 1 Oregon Basketball Topples Worldwide No. 1 USA – Preseason No. 1 Oregon defeated Team USA, which included women’s basketball legends , and , 93-86, in Eugene, Ore. scored 20 of her 30 points in the third quarter to propel the Ducks to a fourth- quarter lead and the eventual win. It was the first time in 20 years, and only the second time ever, that a collegiate team defeated Team USA.

Colorado, Arizona State Meet in Fifth Annual Pac-12 Basketball Game – In what remains the only regular- season contest for a professional or collegiate sports team in the country, the Conference welcomed Colorado and Arizona State to Shanghai for the fifth annual Pac-12 China Game. The Buffaloes tipped off the season with an 81-71 victory over the Sun Devils.

Washington Men’s Soccer Claims First Pac-12 Title Since 2013 – Washington earned the 2019 Conference title, the third all-time for the program and its first since 2013. The Huskies, who snapped Stanford’s streak of five-straight league titles, went on to win the second-most matches (17) in program history and reach the NCAA Quarterfinals for the second time.

Arizona State Wrestling Knocks Off No. 1 Penn State – In front of a record-breaking crowd of 8,522 in Tempe, No. 5 Arizona State defeated No. 1 Penn State 19-18. It was the first loss in a dual for Penn State since 2015, ending a 60-match winning streak.

Pac-12 Cross Country Leads Way at 2019 NCAA Championships – The Pac-12 led all leagues with 14 combined All-America finishers and matched the national-high with a pair of podium teams (Colorado men, Stanford women), highlighting the Conference’s showing at the 2019 NCAA Championships at Indiana State’s LaVern Gibson Championship Course. Stanford Volleyball Wins Outright Pac-12 Crown – Behind 21 kills from national player of the year , the Cardinal swept Washington State to win its 19th all-time Pac-12 crown. Stanford went 18-2 in league play to claim its third-straight crown.

Cal Swimmer Sets New American Record in 50-yard Freestyle – Cal senior Abbey Weitzeil became the first woman to swim the 50-yard freestyle in under 21 seconds. After Weitzeil touched the wall in 20.90 seconds, she lowered her own previous American, U.S. Open and NCAA record of 21.02.

Three Pac-12 Soccer Teams Advance to NCAA Women’s College Cup for the First Time – For the first time in league history, three Pac-12 teams advanced to the NCAA Women’s College Cup. First-time participant and unseeded Washington State defeated the No. 1 and 2 seeds in its quadrant to join league powerhouses Stanford and UCLA.

Stanford Soccer Advances to NCAA College Cup for Seventh Time – Stanford advanced to the NCAA College Cup behind goalkeeper Andrew Thomas’ two saves in a penalty shootout on the road at No. 2 seed Clemson. It marked the Cardinal’s seventh all-time appearance and fourth in the last five seasons.

Oregon Football Wins Third Pac-12 FCG title – Utah successfully defended its Pac-12 South Division crown and climbed to No. 5 in the CFP rankings, but couldn’t hold off No. 14 Oregon as the Ducks captured their third Pac-12 FCG title with a 37-15 win. Oregon’s CJ Verdell earned FCG MVP honors as he rushed for 208 yards with a pair of long touchdown runs (70- and 31-yards).

Stanford Soccer Wins Second NCAA Title in Three Years – After winning its fifth Pac-12 crown, Stanford edged North Carolina in penalty kicks to capture the 2019 NCAA Championship and one of the Pac-12’s most successful campaigns in Conference history. The Cardinal’s title was its third in program history and the sixth all-time for Pac-12 women’s soccer programs, including the Conference’s fifth in the last nine seasons. DECEMBER 8

Stanford Men’s Water Polo Wins First NCAA Title Since 2002 – Top-seeded Stanford recorded a dominant 13-8 win over No. 5 Pacific to win the NCAA title. The Cardinal grabbed its 11th national championship in the sport and its first since 2002. The victory also extended Stanford athletics’ streak of having won at least one NCAA team championship per year to 44-consecutive years.

Oregon Football’s Wins Campbell Trophy – Oregon quarterback becomes the second all-time recipient from the Pac-12 to earn the Campbell Trophy. The Campbell Trophy, considered the academic Heisman, recognizes the top scholar-athlete in football.

Oregon Football’s Penei Sewell Named Outland Trophy Winner – Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell was named the recipient of the 74th Outland Trophy, which is awarded annually to the nation’s best college interior lineman on offense or defense.

Trio of Pac-12 Football Standouts Earn Unanimous and Consensus All-America Honors – California linebacker Evan Weaver, who led the nation with 182 tackles (14.0/game), and Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell were unanimous All-America selections, while Utah defensive end Bradlee Anae earned consensus All-America honors.

Stanford Volleyball Dominates NCAA Tournament for Second-Straight Title – Stanford swept Wisconsin, 3-0, to win its second-straight NCAA title and third in four years, and NCAA-leading ninth all-time. With five All-Americans in the lineup, the Cardinal dropped just two sets in the postseason to conference-foe Utah, sweeping all other tournament foes, 3-0. Kathryn Plummer, who was a two-time national player of the year and Pac-12 Player of the Year but was not eligible for 2019 honors because of injury, was named MOP of the national championship.

Washington State Football QB Anthony Gordon Caps Record-Setting Season – In his only season as a starter, Washington State QB Anthony Gordon established Pac-12 single-season records with 5,579 passing yards and 48 touchdown passes. JANUARY 1

Oregon Football’s Herbert Leads Ducks to Victory – Despite a career where he accounted for 10,541 passing yards and 95 touchdown passes, Justin Herbert used his legs to rush for three touchdowns as Oregon defeated Wisconsin, 28-27. Herbert, who earned Offensive Player of the Game honors, broke off a 30-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter that capped the comeback for the Ducks.

Stanford Soccer’s Named MAC Winner – Pac-12 of the Year Stanford’s Catarina Macario won her second-straight, the Pac-12’s sixth, MAC Hermann Trophy. The junior etched her name in the Pac-12 record books as she notched the most goals (32), assists (23) and points (87) in a season in Conference history. Macario’s 87 points tied for the third-most in NCAA history behind (97) and (88).

Arizona State Basketball Pulls Off Stunning Upsets – Arizona State women’s basketball pulls off back-to-back stunning upsets against No. 2 Oregon (72-66) and No. 3 Oregon State (55-47) in Tempe, the first unranked team in NCAA history to beat top-five regular-season opponents in the same weekend.

Seven Selected in MLS SuperDraft, Including No. 1 – Seven Pac-12 men’s soccer players were selected in the first two rounds of the 2019 (MLS) SuperDraft with UCLA standout freshman Frankie Amaya picked number one overall by FC Cincinnati, becoming the sixth Bruin taken first- overall in the MLS draft and second in the last three years. Seven Pac-12 players selected in the first two rounds of the MLS SuperDraft is the most since eight league were picked in 2014.

Six Earn Freshman All-America Honors – Pac-12 Freshman Offensive Player of the Year USC QB Kedon Slovis headlined the Football Writers Association Freshman All-America Team. The six Pac-12 selections were most among all conferences. In addition to Slovis, UCLA OL Sean Rhyan, Oregon DE Kayvon Thibodeaux, Oregon State LB Omar Speights, Oregon DB Verone McKinley III, and UCLA PR Kyle Phillips were also recognized.

Eleven Pac-12 Standouts Selected in 2020 NWSL Draft – Eleven Pac-12 women’s soccer standouts were selected in the 2020 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) College Draft, the most of any conference and the most since 2017. Coming off a dominant 2019 season, the Pac-12 became the first league to have the top four picks in the draft, highlighted by NCAA Champion Stanford producing the No. 1 overall pick for the third-consecutive year when Sophia Smith was selected by the Portland Thorns FC. Oregon Sets New National Standard in DMR – Oregon’s distance medley relay team of James West, Jacob Miller, Charlie Hunter and Cooper Teare break the collegiate record with a time of 9:24.52 at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.

Five Teams Ranked in Final Regular Season CSCAA Top-25 Poll – Five Pac-12 teams were ranked in the final regular season CSCAA Top-25 poll with No. 1 Stanford atop the season-ending poll for the fifth-straight year. Three Pac-12 teams rank in the top-10 to tie the most of any conference with the Cardinal joined by No. 4 California and No. 8 USC.

Oregon Basketball’s Sabrina Ionescu Reaches 2k-1k-1k – In one of the biggest games of the season, the Ducks’ Sabrina Ionescu became the first player in NCAA history to tally 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 1,000 assists in a top-10 clash at Stanford. Earlier that day, she had spoken at former Lakers’ great ’s memorial in Los Angeles.

Oregon Softball Posts 16-Game Win Streak, Second-Longest in Program History – The Ducks finished the shortened 2019-20 season 22-2, their record highlighted by a 16-game winning streak. Oregon went nearly perfect in the month of February, posting the second-longest win streak to begin a year in school history.

Stanford Swimming Wins Fourth-Straight Pac-12 Championship Title – Stanford won the 2020 Pac-12 Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, notching its fourth-consecutive Pac-12 title. No other team has pulled off a four-peat since Stanford’s 13-consecutive titles from 1987-1999.

Utah Captures Inaugural Regular-Season Championship – The Red Rocks traveled to to face the GymDawgs in a matchup for the sport’s first regular-season Conference title. The meet went down to the wire with Utah edging Washington, 197.675-197.600, to win the title in Alaska Airlines Arena and remain undefeated on the season. MARCH 4

Tinkle Passes Payton to Become OSU’s All-Time Scoring Leader – With 23 points in a victory over Stanford, Tres Tinkle became the all-time leading scorer in Oregon State Men’s Basketball history, passing the legendary . Tinkle went on to finish his career with 2,233 career points, good for seventh on the Pac-12 all-time list.

Arizona State Wrestling Reclaims Pac-12 Wrestling Crown – Arizona State captured its third Pac-12 title in four years, and 19th all-time, as five Sun Devils earned individual titles. ASU’s Kordell Norfleet was named Co- Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Championships along with Stanford’s Shane Griffith.

California Swimming Claims Third-Straight Pac-12 Title – California captured its third-straight and seventh all-time Pac-12 Championship title after collecting 10 individual and four relay titles. Standout was named Pac-12 Swimmer of the Year and Swimmer of the Meet after capturing six titles, setting two meet records and posting the fastest 50-yard freestyle in the nation.

Oregon Men’s Basketball Completes Rare Triple Crown– Oregon secured the Pac-12 regular-season outright title with an 80-67 victory over Stanford. UO became the first school in Conference history and just the second in Power Five conference history (Ohio State - 2005-06, 2006-07, 2009-10) to claim regular-season league titles in football, women’s basketball and men’s basketball in the same academic year.

California Beach Volleyball Upsets Top-Five Team – In their last match of the weekend, the No. 11 Golden Bears upended No. 5 USC in a five-set thriller at the Pac-12 South Tournament, Cal’s second-ever top-five win and first since 2018. MARCH 8

Colorado Lacrosse’s Charlie Rudy Ties Single-Game Pac-12 Record – Colorado attacker Charlie Rudy recorded eight goals as the No. 24 Buffaloes defeated Coastal Carolina, 19-8. Rudy’s career-high day tied a program and Pac-12 record.

Oregon Basketball Dominates in Pac-12 Tournament Run – Recording a nearly 24-points per game margin of victory, Oregon won its second Pac-12 Tournament crown in three years at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, cruising to an 89-56 victory over then-defending champion Stanford. Sabrina Ionescu was named MOP and was two rebounds shy of a triple-double in the championship game. Ionescu became the tournament’s all-time scorer and assists leader.

Pac-12 Gymnastics Dominate Poll – Pac-12 women’s gymnastics, paced by No. 3 UCLA and No. 4 Utah, had five teams listed among the top 15 in the season’s final RoadToNationals.com poll and all eight teams were among the top 27.

USC Lacrosse’s Riley Hertford Receives Fifth-Career Pac-12 Weekly Honor – In a shortened season that saw only four weeks of Pac-12 honors, USC goalie Riley Hertford earned two Defensive Player of the Week awards, giving her five for her career which is the most all-time at USC and tied for the Conference record.

No. 1 USC Leads Three Pac-12 Men’s Tennis Teams in Rankings – Three Pac-12 teams finished in the final ITA top-25 rankings including No. 1 USC, which maintained the top spot for five-consecutive weeks. Stanford was ranked No. 8 and UCLA finished at No. 22. MARCH 10

Five Softball Teams Ranked Final Top-20 of USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll – Pac-12 softball wrapped the 2020 season with five teams ranked in the final USA Today/NFCA Coaches poll — No. 1 UCLA, No. 2 Washington, No. 4 Arizona, No. 9 Oregon and No. 17 Arizona State. Following the preseason poll, all five teams were ranked in six- consecutive top-25 rankings.

Three Pac-12 Women’s Tennis Teams Ranked in Final ITA Top-25 – Three Pac-12 women’s tennis teams finished the season in the ITA top-25 after making their Pac-12 debut just before the season was cut short. Leading the way was UCLA at No. 3, 2019 NCAA Champion Stanford at No. 6 and Arizona State ranked 18th.

Utah Basketball’s Plummer Sets Conference Three-Point Record – In the opening game of the Pac-12 Tournament, Utah’s Alfonso Plummer set both the tourney and league record with 11 three-pointers. Oregon State’s Jarod Lucas made the most important triple of the game, though, as his shot with 1.8 seconds left lifted the Beavers to a 71-69 victory.

Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Tournament, NCAA Sports Canceled Due to Coronavirus Pandemic – The Pac-12 announced it would cancel the remainder of the Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Tournament due to national and global concerns stemming from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Hours later, the NCAA canceled March Madness and the remainder of all winter and spring collegiate sports seasons, and eventually all sports worldwide were halted.

Pac-12 Suspends All Competitions and Championships Due to Coronavirus Pandemic – Following decisions by the NCAA to cancel the Division I men’s and women’s 2020 NCAA basketball tournaments and all remaining winter and spring NCAA championships, the Pac-12 announced the decision to cancel all Conference and non-conference sport competitions and championships through the end of the academic year, including spring sports that compete beyond the academic year.

UCLA Headlines Pair of Pac-12 Teams in Top 10 of Final Coaches Poll – Off to a 13-2 start, UCLA checked in at No. 4 in the final USA Today Coaches poll of the shortened 2020 season. Arizona State also finished in the top 10, closing at No. 10 following a 13-4 start. MARCH 19

USC Lacrosse Finishes at No. 7 in Final IWLCA Poll– USC, which was ranked every week in the 2020 season, finished the season ranked No. 7. The Pac-12’s highest ranked team boasted a Conference-best record of 6-0 and was one of eight remaining undefeated teams in the country.

Stanford Wrestling’s Shane Griffith Hodge Trophy Finalist –Stanford freshman Shane Griffith completed the season with a 28-0 record, was named the Pac-12 Wrestler of the Year and named one of eight finalists for the prestigious Hodge Trophy given to the nation’s top collegiate wrestler.

Pac-12 Claims Nation’s Top Golf Teams – USC claimed the top spot and five other Pac-12 women’s golf teams were among the top 15 in Golfweek’s last poll of the shortened season. In men’s golf, Arizona State concludes the shortened season as the top-ranked conference team at No. 7 in the Golfweek’s final poll. No. 17 Washington and No. 21 Arizona round out the top 25.

Pac-12 Announces Extension of Suspension of Oraganized Team Activities – The Pac-12 announced the decision to extend its suspension of organized team activities through May 31, with certain limited exceptions based upon student-athlete well-being and with periodic re-evaluations during the suspension.

Pac-12 Basketball Claims Four Naismith Starting Five Winners – Four of the five Basketball Hall of Fame/WBCA Naismith Starting Five awards went to the Pac-12 with three going to Oregon, including Sabrina Ionescu claiming her third-straight Award. Teammates (Katrina McClain Award) and ( Award) were also winners. Arizona’s Aari McDonald claimed the Drysdale Award.

Oregon Basketball’s Sabrina Ionescu is Consensus National Player of the Year – Oregon’s Sabrina Ionescu wins every major national player of the year award, including from the , and John R. Wooden Award. She led the Ducks to a 30-win season and the Pac-12 title. She ends her career shattering the NCAA’s triple- double records, more than doubling any other men’s or women’s player in history, and broke the Pac-12 all-time men’s and women’s assists record, while being one of only five women’s basketball players in NCAA history with 1,000 assists. Oregon Basketball’s Payton Pritchard Named Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year – A consensus first team All- American and the Conference’s Player of the Year, Payton Pritchard became the second Pac-12 player to win the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame’s Point Guard of the Year honor joining Utah’s Delon Wright in 2015. Pritchard led the Ducks to the Pac-12 regular-season title while pacing the league in both scoring and assists.

Five Pac-12 Student-Athletes Win Honda Sport Awards – For the second time in three years, five Pac-12 student-athletes were named Honda Sport Award winners. Oregon’s Sabrina Ionescu, UCLA’s , Stanford’s Catarina Macario, California’s Abby Weitzeil and Stanford’s were recognized as their respective sport’s top student-athlete. Since 1976-77, 132 student-athletes from Pac-12 institutions have won the honor.

Oregon Basketball’s Sabrina Ionescu Picked No. 1 WNBA Draft Pick – After a record-breaking season and career, Sabrina Ionescu became the first Duck and fifth Pac-12 women’s basketball player all-time to be selected No. 1 overall in the WNBA Draft when she was picked by the Liberty. Teammate Satou Sabally was selected No. 2 by the Wings as five in all were chosen from the Pac-12.

Arizona Golf’s Hou Named WGCA Freshman of the Year – Despite a stellar first season cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, Arizona’s Vivian Hou still garnered WGCA Freshman of the Year honors. Hou finished among the top four in five of her six events and posted a 70.68 scoring average. It was the ninth time in the last 12 years a Pac-12 golfer has earned the award.

Pac-12 Finds 32 Names Announced in NFL Draft – Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert was the first Pac-12 player off the board in the 2020 NFL Draft, picked sixth overall by the Los Angeles Chargers. USC offensive lineman Austin Jackson (18th selection - Miami Dolphins) and Arizona State wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (25th selection - San Francisco 49ers) joined Herbert in the first round as the Pac-12 has now had three or more first round selections in each draft since 2011. Overall, 32 players were selected in the NFL Draft giving the Pac-12 30 or more selections for the sixth consecutive draft.

Pac-12 Announces Formation of Mental Health Coordinating Unit – Pac-12 announces the formation of a Pac-12 Mental Health Coordinating Unit as part of the Conference’s student-athlete health and well-being initiative, in addition to other research projects selected for funding by the initiative. APRIL 28

Three from Pac-12 earn Tennis ITA All-America Recognition – USC, UCLA and Stanford each had a student- athlete earn 2020 ITA All-America honors and finish in the nation’s top 10, tied for the most of any Conference. No. 1 Daniel Cuckierman of USC, No. 3 Keegan Smith of UCLA, and No. 7 Alexandre Rosaert of Stanford were among those receiving All-America honors.

ITA Recognizes Five from Pac-12 with Tennis All-America Honors – UCLA led the way with three ITA All-America honors, with five in total from the Pac-12 earning national nods. California’s Haley Giavara, Stanford’s Michaela Gordon, and UCLA’s Abigail Forbes, Elysia Bolton and Jada Hart were among those recognized.

Pac-12 Announces Voluntary In-Person Workouts Allowed Starting June 15 – Pac-12 announces that it will allow for voluntary in-person athletic workouts for all sports to commence on June 15, 2020, subject to the decision of each individual campus and where permissible by relevant governmental entities.

JUNE Oregon’s Renovated Hayward Field to Host Future Championships – Long considered the Mecca of track and field venues in the , construction of the ’s new Hayward Field was completed in the spring. Originally scheduled to host the 2020 Pac-12 Track & Field Championships, the world-class venue is slated to host the 2021 NCAA Championships, 2022 Championships, as well as future Pac-12 Championships.

Pac-12 Produces Record Eighth No. 1 Overall Pick in MLB Draft – Despite the shortened season, five were selected in the 2020 MLB Draft, including No. 1-overall pick Spencer Torkelson who was selected by the Detroit Tigers. He is the fourth Sun Devil all-time to be selected No. 1 and the eighth from the Pac-12, the most of any conference. Six different schools were represented in the Draft, including Arizona and UCLA, which each had a pair. Oregon State, USC and Washing had one student-athlete selected.
