Aulakh, Member 8 Professor Ramandeep Singh Johal, Member Item No. Agenda Senate 19.34.01 Introductory remarks by the Chairman The Chairman welcomed all and shared the good news that this year IISER Mohali is awarding 47 Ph.D. Degrees. Last year it was only 25 numbers, thus the number has almost doubled. Congratulations to all the faculty for achieving this feat. As per the practice to have the brief presentation from the supervisor of the Ph.D. Scholars, the following faculty made presentations: 1. Dr. Kavita Babu, 2. Dr. Samarjit Bhattacharyya, 3. Dr. Sharvan Sehrawat etc. Senate 19.32.02 Confirmation of the Draft Minutes of the 31st Meeting of the Academic Senate held on December 18, 2018. Draft Minutes placed at Page No. 62-110 of the agenda. Some comments/remarks have been received from some Senators particularly on item no. 18.31.21(5) stating that though voting took place final decision was not taken on the issue. Senate 19.34.04 Confirmation of the Draft Minutes of the 32nd Meeting of the Academic Senate held on January 7, 2019. Draft Minutes placed at Page No. 117-123 of the agenda. Decision Confirmed. Senate 19.34.05 Action Taken report on the Draft Minutes of the 32nd Meeting of the Academic Senate held on January 7, 2019. Placed at Page No.124-125 of the agenda. Decision Noted. Senate 19.34.06 Confirmation of the Draft Minutes of the 33rd Meeting of the Academic Senate held on March 20th, 2019. The Committee met multiple times to discuss the incidents related to the hacked gmail account of Ms Dipali Singh (MS14109). Ms. Jai Khatri (MS14004) admitted in front of the committee that he had hacked the account and gave a written statement regarding the same. The committee also obtained written statements from other students regarding the incident : (Mr. Prateek Meena (MS14097), Prabhat Singh Rana (MS14140) & Sukhpal (MS14094). Based on the findings of the committee, and taking into account the acceptance of the guilt by the accused, the committee recommends the suspension of Mr. Jai Khatri (MS14004) for a period of one semester (effective from the date of approval by Director, IISER Mohali till May 31, 2019).
