Short Biography: Dr. Gour Gobinda Goswami was born in 31 December, 1967 (Age: 45+) in the village of Ajameru under the district of Moulvibazar, Bangladesh. He received SSC and HSC with 1st Division under the Humanities group of Comilla Board from Jagatshi G. K. High School in year 1982 and Moulvibazar Government College in year 1984 with 16th and 5th place in the merit list respectively. He graduated with BSS (Honors) in Economics from Dhaka University, Bangladesh in 1987 and Masters from the same place with 1st Class in 1988. He received his Ph.D. in Economics degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, USA under the supervision of Professor Mohsen Bahmani-Oskooee in the field of International Economics. He is currently serving as the Treasurer (in charge) of North South University and Professor in the Department of Economics at North South University. His field of interest ranges from International Finance (Open Economy Macroeconomics), Public Debt Management, Time Series Forecasting to Development Economics. Dr. Gour started his professional career as a fulltime Lecturer in the Department of Economics at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, Bangladesh back in 1992 right after finishing his Masters degree in Economics from Dhaka University. Before joining NSU he was a fulltime teacher and the Head of the Department of Economics and Assistant Proctor at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh till 1999. In Fall 1999 he has been awarded with Graduate Teaching Assistantship for pursuing Ph.D. in Economics from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, USA. After finishing his Ph.D. he joined North South University (NSU) as a fulltime Assistant Professor in 1 the Department of Economics to serve the Private Sector Higher Education in Bangladesh. During his 10+ years of teaching at NSU he served in various capacities. He served as Assistant Professor from 2003 to 2005, Associate Professor from 2005 to 2010 and Professor since 2010. He served as the Faculty Advisor for Young Economists’ Forum (YEF), NSU from 2003 to 2007 and MS in Economics Program Advisor since 2004-2009 and 2011 till date. He was the Proctor of NSU, Bangladesh from 2009 to 2010 and the Chair of the Department of Economics, NSU, Bangladesh from 2007 to 2009. Dr. Gour played active role in setting up a unified public debt management system in Bangladesh in the light of International best practices. He also worked actively in formulating 10 years’ long term perspective plan of the Government of Bangladesh in the light of Vision 2021. Dr. Gour played active role in conducting Results based Monitoring and Evaluation of the 6th Five Year Plan of the Government of Bangladesh. Dr. Gour is actively involved in research in his field. EconLit, the most widely used search engine of Economics has enlisted more than a dozen of his research papers in its network. SCOPUS, another search engine of scholarly scientific publications has enlisted more than a dozen of his research papers in its archive. It is to be mentioned that his research papers have been published from the reputed journals of Australia, Bhutan, Canada, Germany, India, Korea, Qatar, USA, and UK. His paper on exchange rate sensitivity of bilateral in-payments and out- payments of Japan has been categorized as top 5 among the top 25 hottest articles according to Science Direct. He has been awarded with University Grants’ Commission (UGC) Research Award in Social Science twice. He has received this award in 2003 for the paper on smuggling and purchasing power disparity published from Korea. In 2006 he received UGC award again for another paper on bilateral trade balance modeling published from the UK. His works have been enlisted in many search engines and networks like Alta Vista, Bing, dogpile, EconLit, excite, Google, IDEAS, LogEC, lycos, Microsoft Academic Research Network, ORCID, Pubget, RePEC, Scholar Google, SCOPUS, SSRN, Yahoo (Keyword: Gour Gobinda Goswami, Gour G. Goswami or Gour Goswami) etc. His works have been cited widely in the field of International Economics (International Finance: JEL Classification: F3). Dr. Gour is a prolific writer who publishes regularly in renowned International Journals named Applied Economics, Applied Economics Letters, Australian Economics Papers, Economic Modeling, Economic Systems, Emerging Markets Finance and Trade, Empirical Economic Letters, International Review of Applied Economics, ICFAI Journal of Applied Economics, Japan and the World Economy, Journal of Economic Development, Journal of Economic Studies, Journal of Economics and Finance, Review of Political Economy, Review of Social Economy, Southern Economic Journal, The Journal of Developing Areas, and Bangladesh Development Studies etc. In addition to this he serves as the reviewer of about 24 international journals in the discipline of Economics and Business.
