Ionia Downtown Development Authority November 24, 2020 Small Business Saturday Slated for November 28th! This special day encourages holiday shoppers to patronize local brick and mortar businesses rather than traveling distances or using on-line purchasing. As the merchants celebrate this special shopping day, many will be offering in-store specials, gift wrapping, contests and more. Become an inspirational shopper and create a “tourist in your own town” experience for you and your friends. Shop local and support your community. Many businesses are operated by friends, neighbors and in some cases even family. To ensure a strong business district, we all need to remember to shop local. Plan now for your Ionia shopping experience as we kick off Small Business Saturday on November 28th. Christmas On The Bricks! Saturday, December 5th marks the beginning of the community’s holiday celebration. “Twinkle Town” will featuring storefront and residential decorating contests and FB live streaming of several special events. Downtown businesses will be showcasing their shop windows and facades covered in lights to welcome the holiday season. From 6pm to 8pm on December 5th we invite everyone to drive or stroll the downtown shopping district to view the Twinkle Downtown light tour and shop during a special open house celebration. Don’t miss visiting all of the area’s shops which will be hosting specials, contests, and amazing home town customer service. A map / guide will be available marking the way to the residential and businesses that are decorated making this tour one to remember. To vote for your favorite entry from “Christmas on the Bricks” – downtown storefronts, “Christmas Off The Bricks” – businesses not located on Main Street and the residential category, visit ioniachamber.org. The lighting of the official downtown Christmas Tree will be streamed on FB this year. Santa will be on hand to light the tree and joined by a guest choir as they ring in the season with Christmas carols. Santa’s mailbox will be located in front of the Community Center / Armory for all of those letters heading to the North Pole. To assist the little ones with their letters to Santa, many of the downtown shops will have complimentary stationary to share. A sample copy is also included in this edition and may be copied accordingly. We encourage all to shop local this holiday season. Supporting brick and mortar businesses is more important than ever before. Curb side pick-up is also available through many shops and local restaurants.
