Omg I Need This Now Create an “Omg I Need this Now" Offer for Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday Black Friday (plus Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday) can be a literal GOLDMINE and a fantastic opportunity to make money off of something you’ve already created. According to Adobe Analytics, in 2017, Cyber Monday hit a new record of $6.59 billion in sales, making it the largest U.S. online shopping day ever, while Black Friday three days earlier saw shoppers spending $5.03 billion online, Black Friday offers a wonderful time to test out a new offer, gift your community with a deal, and allow people who are checking you out (but not ready to invest at a high price point) to dip a toe into working with you / experience your magic. Here are some questions to get your wheels turning on what you could potentially offer: What have I already created that’s gathering dust on the (digital) shelf? What would naturally lead in to one of my higher level offers? What would be super helpful to my community and easy for me to create right now? Are there any courses I’ve been thinking about creating that I could beta-test as a Black Friday offer? One of my favorite strategies is to spend at least 5 minutes meditating and then place my hand on my heart and say “Universe, higher self, angels: what would you have me create?” and then notice any ideas that arise. Here are some ideas for potential offers: ● Combine past livestreams or blog posts into a digital “bundle” (and make them no longer publicly available for free). ● Offer a single module (or a few modules) from a course you’ve already created. ● Let people purchase a 1-off session/mini-intensive with you, potentially at a slightly reduced rate (this works especially well when you typically only work in longer packages). You could also offer a 2-for-1 deal where someone can purchase a session for themselves and a friend as a gift. ● Provide the chance for someone to buy a week of Facebook messenger or Voxer support with you, so they can ask questions/get support in real time. ● Create a training on a specific, bite-sized topic (Bonus points if it takes no more than a few hours for you to create) ● Create a coupon code that can be applied toward any of your offers. ● Offer an assessment (digital questionnaire followed by written or recorded feedback from you based on a client’s answers). ● Do a “pay what you can” option for one of your existing offers. ● Give a “donate to charity” option for one of your existing offers (people get access to something in exchange for a charity donation - they send you a receipt of describe to you how they volunteered, whatever parameters feel good to you). ● Donate a portion of your Back Friday proceeds to charity (and let people know this in your promotion). ● Create a “behind the scenes” of your own routine, processes, etc. (ie. all the social media posts you used in a past launch if you’re a business coach, or your 5 favorite recipes of you’re a health coach). ● If you’re about to raise your rates, you can let people know that now is their last chance to get your services before the investment increases (right after Cyber Monday). ● Offer free shipping (if you sell any physical products) ● Partner with another (complimentary) service partner and offer something together (this is also great way for both of you to expand your online community and get in front of new audiences). ● Record a set of guided meditations or visualizations (Anchor is a free app that allows you to easily record + add background music in one spot). ● If you’re visually talented, create a series of desktop + phone backgrounds or screensavers with inspirational (and on-brand) quotes. ● Create an “early bird” sale for something you plan to launch in the new year. Based on these questions + this list, what ideas do you have? Now write down all next steps for you to complete (and put them in your calendar): Here is a list of tools that I’ve found to be super helpful (you will get more robust recommendations throughout this course, but these are a few basics for now): Leadpages - create sales pages + landing pages quickly and easily. These will integrate with ​ your payment processor + whatever email provider you use. Zoom - great for hosting + recording video and audio trainings and group coaching calls. ​ Google Forms - Perfect free tool if you decide to offer a questionnaire + assessment. ​ Anchor - Great way to record audio + add music without any technical experience. ​ Acuity - call scheduling tool (if you have a sudden influx of sessions you do NOT want to be ​ messaging back and forth to schedule them). Canva and Picmonkey - easy-to-use design tools to help make promo materials pretty (when ​ you’re not a professional designer Now let’s talk pricing: You want your Black Friday to feel like an “omg - what?!” deal, so the pricing will depend on the rest of your suite of services. For me, that means under $500 but it will totally range depending on what you offer. Here’s a link to my “Feel-Good Marketing Menu” to give you an example of a suite of services and pricing, for reference: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JZ1RxAshpLKlcS86WxGnZuHBHDNAnBm9sdp708pUqz g/edit?usp=sharing Lastly, here are some ideas for promoting your Black Friday offer: (we will go way more in depth about launching, promoting and selling in later modules of this course, but here are some good first steps for your Black Friday Offer): ● Announce your offer to your email list (if you have one). ● Post on social media (Facebook + Instagram are especially powerful) ● Consider running a Facebook ad to a warm audience (targeting people who have already visited your website). ● Do livestreams on Facebook (give people an incentive to share, such picking one person per day out of everyone who shares for free session with you). ● Talk about the offer on Insta-stories ● Let people know that you’ll be announcing something special for Black Friday a few days before and tell them to get on your email list for first dibs. Final tips: >>Think less about perfection and more about being helpful. >>Consider your Black Friday a marketing experiment. There is no such thing as “failure” this is just an opportunity to learn + gather information. >>Remember, this short turnaround time is actually a great way to get you out of your comfort zone and over-perfection and into messy ACTION. As the new general manager at West Central Electric, I thought I’d take this opportunity to introduce myself and give you a little of my background information in this month’s report. One of the most telling things about me is that rural electric cooperatives have always been a part of my life. My father’s first job out of college was as a secretary at Moreau-Grand Electric Cooperative in Timber Lake, S.D., where I spent the first 18 years of my life. Through the years, I watched my dad work his way up until he became the general manager. I don’t know how many annual meetings I’ve attended, but they started before I was in kindergarten! I also remember that during severe outages, my dad left our home for work. One time in particular and during a blizzard, I remember a lineman coming to get him in a tracked Bombardier. As I watched him leave and go down the street, I remember thinking how neat that was. It wasn’t until I was older, that I realized just how serious the situation was.     CIDER PRESS December 2020 Time Moves Us On In 1959 our Grandfather and Father came up from Palisade to New Castle to purchase an orchard and hayfield to expand the fruit operation that they had in Palisade. At that time, they never would have imagined that the farm would become a Mobile Home park. But I-70 came through and times change. The property was changed from a farm into a community. As we grew up in the business, we never imagined that life would be any different. But as we have aged and life changes have continued to press in on us, we find ourselves again at another crossroads in life. We have made the leap to pass the community on to another operator. We did a lot of work and asked a ton of questions to narrow the options to someone who represented that they would take care of the community in a positive way so that we could feel good about who we passed the responsibilities on to. Of course, we can never know all that might happen in the economy or in life, yet time moves on relentlessly, so must we. It has been a difficult process for us as we have grown up alongside many of you and interacted with some of you for 30 or more years. We want to thank you all for being part of our life and we will pray and encourage the continuation of a healthy community here. We are going to continue to live in the area and be part of the valley that is home to us.

When we talk about Christmas peak in retail, these days we tend to mean Black Friday. Or at least the Black Friday period, to be more accurate. There are other peaks of course, but that’s become the one that really matters for many. It’s been fascinating to watch this event evolve over the past few years. The scale of it is so huge that it appears to be a bit uncontrollable. Its character changes, the period it covers extends (might it contract again?), tactics and strategies adapt to suit this new format of peak trading. And therein lies part of the problem. It’s such an important time of year for sweeping up a share of the huge (albeit, often discounted) spend that goes through the virtual tills that the approach retailers take does seem to have become a bit safe; a bit uniform. We’ve had 3 years of this new format peak trading now and the first year (2014) was a bit traumatic. Retailers don’t want to (indeed, can’t afford to) miss out on having a successful peak, so they do what seems to work.
