CIDER PRESS December 2020 Time Moves Us On In 1959 our Grandfather and Father came up from Palisade to New Castle to purchase an orchard and hayfield to expand the fruit operation that they had in Palisade. At that time, they never would have imagined that the farm would become a Mobile Home park. But I-70 came through and times change. The property was changed from a farm into a community. As we grew up in the business, we never imagined that life would be any different. But as we have aged and life changes have continued to press in on us, we find ourselves again at another crossroads in life. We have made the leap to pass the community on to another operator. We did a lot of work and asked a ton of questions to narrow the options to someone who represented that they would take care of the community in a positive way so that we could feel good about who we passed the responsibilities on to. Of course, we can never know all that might happen in the economy or in life, yet time moves on relentlessly, so must we. It has been a difficult process for us as we have grown up alongside many of you and interacted with some of you for 30 or more years. We want to thank you all for being part of our life and we will pray and encourage the continuation of a healthy community here. We are going to continue to live in the area and be part of the valley that is home to us. As we hand off the operation and responsibility to IPG, we are glad that they are keeping most of the crew that has been here for so long. Henry has shepherded this community for many years and will continue to be the point man in operations and management. Bill will also continue to be the lead in the maintenance department. Some of the others will continue their own journey and will help this community continue to be the wonderful home that it has been for so many for many years to come. May your journey in life be blessed with many days and much good. Talbott Enterprises wishes to express to you a heartfelt “thank you” in this transition. Not a goodbye, but a “see you again soon.” The Talbott’s Henry’s Corner: Porch Shoppers Tis The Season. I have been experiencing butterflies, the jitters and day-dreaming about the chance to stand in line for hours on end so I can be elbowed, punched in the stomach and kicked in the groin by the sweet little blue hair grandmas fighting over totally unnecessary toys for their grandkids. This event is called “Black Friday” and I am SO EXCITED! In fact, I am thinking about going to Cabela’s right now to buy a tent, sleeping bag and propane heater so I can set up camp in front of Wal-Mart a week before “Black Friday” and maybe even collect a few bucks from passerby’s who think that I am homeless. This is really getting me excited about the Holiday Shopping Experience! I needed to get on this so, I called the town’s police department to let them know that I would be setting up camp in front of Wal-Mart so that I can be first in line to get the best “black Friday” deals on the things that I have absolutely no use for! I was told by the officer that no camping is allowed in city limits and even if it were, I would have to get a permit. That takes about two to three weeks to process. My holiday shopping dreams were crushed. I could not even pull myself out of bed the next day, I was so depressed. But as luck would have it, I received a call from a close friend. He said, “dude, there is a new shopping trend, and it won’t cost you any money at all! It is called Porch Shopping. All you need to do is drive around and when you see a box on a porch, just make sure nobody is around, snatch the box and throw it in your car!” BRILLIANT! I could only imagine what wonderful things would wait for me in those boxes! Play Stations, TV’s, clothes, and tools! “Porch Shopping,” what a great concept. I called the local police station back and told them that I would no longer be needing a camping permit because “Porch Shopping” was the solution for me this year! They proceeded to tell me that if I also was in the holiday spirit of meeting new friends, I could come hang out in jail with them as they would also be out “porch shopping” in the neighborhood. I guess a camping trip at the local Wal-Mart is the route I am having to go this year. I asked the gang at the office to come up with a few suggestions so that you can avoid “porch shoppers” this holiday season. Here is what we came up with: • Put a large tube or box with a lid on the porch and mark it for UPS and Fed Ex • Post a “smile you’re on camera” sign on your gate • Have a neighbor who is home during the day hold your packages for you • NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH! Let’s look after our neighbors like we have been and call the office or police when you see suspicious activity! I think I the boxes are out of site in the first place, there should be no reason for a porch shopper to shop your porch anyway! “Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.” Good -Bye Apple Tree By Rochelle Firth It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this to you. th As of Friday, November 20 , I will no longer be your office manager. I am moving on to take over for Debbie Nichols at the Town of New Castle to better serve you. I will continue in my efforts to include all of you in future activities and events with the town. So, do not think of this as a good-bye, but like the Talbott’s said, a “see you again soon.” I will miss all of you, but if you have ever read my past adventure blogs, I am a big advocate of doing things out of your comfort zone and that scare you. You never know where it will take you. Well… off I go. I would like to thank each of you for every experience shared, friendship and the good times we have had together. Thank you for allowing me to be privy to your stories. I wish you all the absolute best. Thank you for letting me serve you! Please Note: Your website will be deactivated on the 20th of November. Please contact the office to get information on your new online payment portal. -Thank you Mom’s Circle A favorite family phrase or slogan can go here. So long 2020 2020 has been quite the year. So many of us have lost loved ones close to us. Others their jobs, and others their sanity. Let us say so long 2020. It is time to move on. A Time for Everything Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; A time of war, and a time of peace.
