Small Business Saturday Pride Across District 5!

You may have seen our email blast last week about Saturday events going on in the district, and we’re proud to report that one of the biggest events went off without a hitch!

Even with the rain on Saturday, over a hundred people turned out to Curtis Park Loves Small Biz Celebration, a joint effort between the Sierra Curtis Neighborhood Association (SCNA), the North Franklin District Business Association, and the Greater Broadway Partnership.

Over sixty local and small businesses participated in the celebration, offering patrons the chance to get a passport stamped, and the opportunity to win a variety of prizes.

This was the first year that the SCNA teamed up with North Franklin District Business Association, and the Greater Broadway Partnership to produce this event, and both the neighborhood and business associations are looking to future partnerships.

The holiday season is officially upon us! On Wednesday, November 26th, hundreds of eager Sacramento residents came out to celebrate the annual lighting of the City of Sacramento’s Christmas tree in Old Sacramento.

Vice Mayor Schenirer was on hand to help kick-off the celebrations, and had a great time in helping lead the countdown to the official lighting.

The lighting was immediately followed by Macy’s Theatre of Lights, a live-action retelling of the 1823 poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas,” or more commonly known in popular culture as “’Twas the Night Before Christmas”.

The free holiday program is a joint effort between the City of Sacramento, the Old Sacramento Business Association, the Downtown Sacramento Foundation (DSF) and Bank of America, and will continue on through the holiday season.

For families who are interested in attending, check out the program schedule and the interactive Old Sacramento Parking Map!
