With a package that includes from escorted tours of planned activities to gain and experience first-hand knowledge of our local culture, environment, nature and traditions. TERMS AND CONDITIONS We provide Bilingual tour guide (Spanish and English; French and/or German, upon special requests only), tour transportation, tours, entrances fees, a going-away gift per visitor, and personalized service, as described, unless otherwise indicated. Prices DO NOT include international airfare, accommodation (unless a Tour/Lodging package is chosen), meals, optional travel insurance or any other services not expressly mentioned. We carry water bottles, a snack per visitor, an emergency kit, gel and individual antibacterial towels, sanitary paper, sun block, mosquito repellent and beach towels. There will be no refunds for canceled reservations on tours. All reservation must include a 50% non-refundable deposit. The guest may reschedule the tour, and it will carry an administrative cost of 25.00 USD per person per tour and it is subject to availability. A minimum of 4 visitors is required to do a tour. These packages rates do not apply to any other promotion, retirement discount, group or extended stay. The length of each tour is approximate. All subject to availability and changes. At the province level, there are health centers, clinics, and hospitals with high professional capacity and advanced technological equipment to care for all kinds of emergencies and situations that need rapid medical intervention. ARTISAN DAY Description: During the tour we will visit the local artisans, known for their laborious work in the making of the typical national costume, the Pollera. From the moment the drawings come to life, to the delicate embroidering and the many hands involved in the making of the Polleras and all regional dresses. We will appreciate the manufacturing of tembleques and mundillos, cutarras, totumas, hats, bags, and motetes. Duration: 3-4 hours Price per person: 50.00 2. HISTORIC ROUTE TOUR Description: We will visit the points of greatest historical, religious and architectural interest within the district of Las Tablas, Guararé, and La Villa. Note: not available on Mondays. LOCAL FARM VISIT & MOLIENDA (CAÑAVERAL, CORTE, MOLIENDA Y COCINAR LA MIEL) Description: We will visit a family run and operated farm, specialized in the manufacturing of artisan produces, surrounded by abundant nature, with a rich and varied flora and fauna. There you can enjoy a walk with a guide so that the visitor can enjoy all the produces grown there, and the dedication of this family to preserve their heritage and ways of living. The visitor can savor a typical snack of the countryside, with a delicious cup of coffee or natural refreshment and learn about the different ornamental plants, fruit, and vegetables in a small family farm and pick some fruit of their liking. Milling is a very common activity in the central provinces during this time of the year. It consists of the artisanal processing of the sugar cane to obtain the precious honey of cane, a product of great utility for our man of the field. The milling process can last three to four hours depending on the size of the task and how much you want to force the animal to grind. It is common that during this process, the people involved in the grinding pick up guarapo from the trapiche to take it, as it is a very refreshing and tasty drink. The process of cooking honey starts at mid-morning and can take almost until late afternoon. The final product is honey cans, which are then sold or used at home to sweeten beverages and for other purposes. Apart from its economic function, milling often also fulfills a social function, as it often becomes a family or neighbors meeting. Some mill owners still have the habit of providing free guarapo to neighbors and visitors, as well as inviting their friends to bring plantains to cook on honey. Note: lunch or dinner in site. RODEO: Saddle Bronc Riding Saddle Bronc has been a part of the Calgary Stampede since 1912. Style, grace and rhythm define rodeo’s “classic” event. Saddle Bronc riding is a true test of balance. It has been compared to competing on a balance beam, except the “apparatus” in rodeo is a bucking bronc. A saddle bronc rider uses a rein attached to the horse’s halter to help maintain his seat and balance. The length of rein a rider takes will vary on the bucking style of the horse he is riding – too short a rein and the cowboy can get pulled down over the horse’s head. Of a possible 100 points, half of the points are awarded to the cowboy for his ride and spurring action. The other half of the points come from how the bronc bucks and its athletic ability. The spurring motion begins with the cowboy’s feet over the points of the bronc’s shoulders and as the horse bucks, the rider draws his feet back to the “cantle’, or back of the saddle in an arc, then he snaps his feet back to the horse’s shoulders just before the animal’s front feet hit the ground again. Bareback Riding Bareback has also been a part of the Stampede since 1912. In this event, the cowboy holds onto a leather rigging with a snug custom fit handhold that is cinched with a single girth around the horse – during a particularly exciting bareback ride, a rider can feel as if he’s being pulled through a tornado.

Chasteen) This dissertation offers two premises. First, there is a deep history of relationships between power, horsemanship, and constructions of masculinity in modern Mexico. Second, because of this history, Mexicans in various eras and situations have depended on rural equestrian costumes, identities, and traditions to influence, interpret, and navigate the world around them. Part 1 of this dissertation consists of three chapters and provides an overview of the development of Mexican equestrian customs and the ways that Mexicans in colonial, independent, and revolutionary Mexico used horsemanship to make their lives meaningful, central, and sustainable. Part II, composed of five chapters, shifts to a discussion of the emergence of the equestrian sport community of organized charrería and the way that organized charros continued the practice of transforming Mexico’s equestrian past into a form of strategic cultural capital. Post-revolutionary organized charros, cognizant of the rich equestrian history they had to draw upon, used the idea of Mexican horsemen’s historic contributions in order to claim relevance in post-revolutionary Mexico as the heirs and latest representatives of that historically-significant equestrian tradition.

Se incrustó la enseñanza religiosa de los jesuitas en la columna de creencias, mitos y leyendas de la cultura aborigen; y lo bandera del idioma de los españoles penetró en la familia que se acogió al nuevo Dios, al nuevo idioma, a los nuevos cantos , a los nuevos amos. Así, sencillamente, se sembró la semilla de la nueva cultura en nuestro suelo, para que al germinar diera como resultado el rico folclor de los Llanos colombo-venezolanos.

Charrería is a Mexican cultural tradition that stems from the Spanish-inspired charreada. The charreada is a festive event that is similar to an American rodeo in its variety of competitive equestrian activities. Like the American “rodeo culture,” Charrería extends beyond horses and riders to include aspects such as costume, music, and food that bring a uniquely Latino culture to a sport that has its roots in Spain. The charreada began in Mexico in the 16th century when horses were introduced by the Spanish. As the Spanish tried to develop Central America for their own economic gain, they created an entire culture centered around agriculture and ranching in the haciendas they constructed. This is the culture that is reflected in Charrería. Although the main event is foreign-inspired, the culture reflected in the clothing, saddles, belts, hats, and spurs is largely inspired by traditional indigenous art. The Charrería has endured over five centuries because of the strength of the skills, sensibilities, and traditions that transcend regional and generational differences. Fearing the eventual loss of the Charrería culture, a group of charros, or the “cowboys,” who participate in the charreadas, united and formed various associations to preserve and promote this national culture. The Federación Mexicana de Charrería was founded in Mexico City in 1933 to govern the different charros associations that emerged.
