EXPRESSIONS

BEAUTY OR BRAINS?

Everyone can have their own perception whether beauty and brains can go together or not. What comes to your mind when I say the word ‘beauty’ is one’s complexion, height and appearance. In my opinion, being beautiful is not about having good looks but it is the way you present yourself. Your integrity, your passion, your knowledge is what your true beauty is. Having good nature with a pleasant personality is what makes you beautiful. A person with creative ideas in his mind will always look beautiful to everyone because with his ideas he can motivate, lead and also help others. So finally he seems to look beautiful to the people around him. If you have a smart brain, you can make your personality very attractive and bold also. Without thought power life is like a day without sunshine. External looks alone cannot excel in life. Beauty with brains is undoubtedly a unique and nice combination to excel in the life arena. Qansa Wasif Ali Grade – X

FRIENDSHIP

A friend is a special person who makes a person’s life beautiful. Friendship is the purest form of relation on earth. Having a true friend is like having a million diamonds. It is the most precious gift to all of us. A friend is the one who's there in our good as well as bad times. Friends love us unconditionally, understand us and do not judge us. They stand with us when we need them. They will do anything to make us smile. The power of friendship is all the magic we need. Qansa Wasif Ali Grade – X First of all, friendship is the best relationship in the world. A friend is someone with whom you can share anything. Friends are the only ones who can even see us cry.We don’t need to be embarrassed in front of them. So never say no to friends because they are an indispensable part of our life.

BEING HEAD BOY

To say I have followed every rule and towed every line would not quite be true. Being head boy is more than just wearing a badge. It is being in charge of prefects and ensuring everyone does their job. It is taking a neutral ground in disputes, no matter who is involved. It is about being polite and friendly and working sensibly with staff. It is listening to the problems of students within the school and taking the improvements they suggest. It is also to maintain proper discipline. Being Head Boy gave me the motivation to do well in school. Now more than ever, thinking before I speak and act is natural, because I have to think how my actions affect others. As Head Boy, I have to set an example, not only to the prefects but to the school. As Head Boy, I have been given the responsibility I needed to push me into putting my everything into my last year of school. B. Nishanth Grade – X La vie Vie, the French word for 'life' was what I called my space settlement project, the one that got me first prize in over 85 countries and the one that I'm incredibly proud of. Doing this project was not an easy job, it took me three whole months to do this project, three months of restless nights and three months of red bull diet (I also had the chance to be a space nerd for three months). Three months might seem like a long time to do a project but trust me it's not especially when you’re contesting for 'NASA AMES Space Settlement Design Contest'. All the hard work was worth it because my project won a prize, which surprised me a lot but thanks to my project I was invited to the International Space Development Conference (ISDC) 2015 which was held in Toronto, Canada. It was an experience I would never forget, I had the opportunity to meet the NSS directors, astronauts, scientists, meteorologists and had the chance to present my project to them in a conference. It was wonderful because not many people can say that they got to experience all of this at the mere age of thirteen or in the eighth grade.
