G.O.Ms.No.458, Dated: 18.8.99 Government Of Tamil Nadu Abstract Tamil Nadu Patta Pass Book Act, 1983 (Tamil Nadu Act 4 of 1986) Commencement of the said Act except sections 5,9,15 and 23 in Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Salem Namakkal, Dindigul, Ramanthapuram and Tirunelveli Districts Notification – Issued. Special Commissioner and Commissioner of Land Administration’s letter No.S1/3828/98 (Survey) dated 2.3.99 ORDER In the Government order first read above, the Government ordered for the implmentation of Patta Pass Book Scheme in seven more districts namely Cuddalore, Dhamapuri Salem, Namakkal, Dindigul, Ramanathapuram and Tirunelveli Districts. The Special Commissioner and Commissioner of Land Administration was requested to send necessary draft notification to be published in the Tamil nadu Government Gazette in this regard. The Government have now decided to bring into force all the provision of the Patta Pass Book Act 1983, except sections 5,9 (Tamil nadu Act 4 of 1986) 15 and 23 in the above said seven districts covering 54 taluks with effect from 1.9.1999 2.The Special Commissioner and Commissioner of Land Administration has sent the draft notification for publishing in the Tamil nadu Government Gazette. It is hereby ordered that the Appended Notification be published in the next issue of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette and that the Gazette copy be supplied to the Collectors of Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri Ramanthapuram, Dindigul, Tirunelveli and Cuddalore. APPENDIX NOTIFICATION In exercise of the powers conferred by sub- section (3) of section 1 of the Tamil Nadu Patta pass Book Act, 1983 (Tamil nadu Act 4 of 1986) the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby appoints the Ist September 1999 as the date on which all the provisions of the said Act except sections 5,9,15 and 25 shall come into force in the areas specified below:- CUDDALORE DISTRICT 1. The results show that some of the limestone age mean value of 93.01 samples were found to meet some industrial raw materials specifications used in the cement, agriculture, poultry, paint, pharmaceutical, ceramics, glass, Silica bricks, metallurgical purification processes in the steel industry and some other filler applications.

The name Tirunelveli has been composed from the three Tamil words i.e. ‘Thiru – Nel – Veli’ meaning Sacred Paddy Hedge. Geographical Location: Tirunelveli District having geographical area of 6759 sq.kms, in the South eastern portion of Tamil Nadu is triangular in shape. It lies between 8°.05’ and 9°.30’ of the Northern latitude and 77°.05’ and 78°.25’ of Eastern longitude. Topography: The district is located in the southern part of Tamil Nadu and surrounded by Virudhunagar District in the north, Western Ghats in the West, Kannyakumari District in the south and Tuticorin District in the East. The lifeline of the district river Tamiraparani feeds the district and quenches the thirst of residents of Tirunelveli and Tuticorin district too. Administrative Setup: The District has 3 Revenue Divisions consisting of 12 Taluks, 60 Firkas 19 Development Blocks, 616 Revenue Villages and 425 Village Panchayats. Demographic Details: The population of the District was 2723988 in 2001 Census and 3077233 as per 2011 census. The Density of Population per sq.km. was 399 in 2001 census and 460 persons as per 2011 census. Tirunelveli, Tenkasi and Ambasamudram are the most densely populated Taluks in the District as per 2011 census. The Sex ratio is 1023 females for every 1000 males.
