PiA Leichhardt Tigers have reached the final hurdle in their race for a second ANational Premier Leagues NSW Premiership as they host Hakoah Sydney BALL BOYS - NPL 13 City East on Sunday afternoon. Billy McColl’s side are 90 minutes away from making history with victory ensuring Bassam Aoun they lift the trophy for the second straight year. Kade Barkhan They come into the match flying high after an incredible 6-3 victory against Victor Cipolla Bonnyrigg White Eagles last round despite trailing 3-0 early in the match, Jordan Dias Their opponents Hakoah were also winners in Round 21 as they shocked Antonio Glavan Rockdale City Suns 1-0. Gabriel Gotting APIA proved with last week’s result that they will not be struggling for goals after the departure of record breaking striker Jordan Murray who was signed by Joseph Hatem A-League side Central Coast Mariners last week. Avele Jaucian-Alaalatoa HIs 23 goals in 19 games this campaign was an incredible return and set a new Julian Perugini make for most goals in a National Premier Leagues NSW season. Justin Poon Hist strike partner Tasuku Sekiya has proven to be the heir apparent to Murray Antonio Rizzo and will take on much of the goalscoring responsibility throughout the finals. Luka Samardzic Murray’s departure has also opened the door for veteran midfielder Franco Parisi to play a larger role than his usual super-sub appearances. Rawley St John Hakoah’s Anthony Frangie has had a breakout season and will be the man APIA Nicholas Stojkovic need to watch to ensure the visitors don’t spoil the party. Christian Tanti This game has plenty riding on it and is not to be missed. Max Vartuli

6 NPLNSW.COM.AU MATCH REVIEWS

APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC 6 – Bonnyrigg White Eagles 3 at Labert Park APIA Leichhardt Tigers head into the final week of the 2018 National Premier Leagues season in pole position to retain their Premiership title after a phenomenal 6-3 win over Bonnyrigg White Eagles at Lambert Park on Sunday afternoon. Down 3-0 with half an hour played, the Tigers looked a shadow of their former selves until Sean Symons sparked the comeback with a goal just before the break. Bonnyrigg imploded with three red cards in the second half allowing APIA free rein in the closing stages the game, with a sixth goal late on giving the hosts a cushion that seemed impossible an hour earlier. It was a spectacular and somewhat bizarre contest but most importantly puts Billy McColl’s Tigers side in control of their own fate ahead of what is set to be a dramatic final week of action in Round 22.

Hakoah Sydney City East 1 – Rockdale City Suns 0 at Hensley Athletic Field Hakoah Sydney City East put a dent in Rockdale City Sun’s finals hopes with an Oliver Green deflected goal handing them a tense 1-0 win at Hensley Athletic Field on Sunday. Green’s 51st minute effort was the stroke of good fortune the home side needed in a tough encounter where goals were at a premium. The win ensures Hakoah Sydney City East will return for another season in the NSW State League top flight with the three points staving off the threat of relegation. It was a hard fought result for the home side who took advantage of a fatigued Rockdale side backing up from their midweek FFA clash against A-League powerhouse Sydney FC. For the visitors, it all comes down to next week now. They find themselves outside the top five now, on goal difference after Paul Reid’s side failed to make their chances count. Now they need to beat Sydney FC next week and rely on a favour from Wollongong Wolves to make it.

14 NPLNSW.COM.AU U20’S MATCH PREVIEW

PIA Leichhardt Tigers narrowly missed the Atop five in 2018 but can still have an effect on the finals one way or another should they cause trouble for their opponents in the final round of the regular season.

Hakoah Sydney City East will kick off at Lambert Park an hour after Sydney United 58 do in their match against Sydney Olympic, and know that a United draw or loss would seal their place in the finals regardless of the result against APIA.

Still, they will be determined to make the five of their own accord. Hakoah won 3-0 against Rockdale last week while APIA head into this one on the back of a 2-1 win over Bonnyrigg White Eagles, both goals coming late to snatch a fantastic comeback win for the Tigers.

Hakoah won 1-0 when these sides met at Hensley Athletic Field back in May: a repeat result on Sunday at Lambert Park would serve them well.
