    Sara “Sally” Melissa Hart Biography Sara “Sally” Melissa Hart - Class of 1960 - b. April 16, 1942 From the EHS Yearbook, the Maroon: Sr. A Cappella 3-4, Pep Club 4, Girls Club 3-4, French Club 3-4, Class Play 3-4. She is an American actress, singer, and teacher. She made her Broadway debut in 1966 as an ensemble member in Jerry Bock’s The Apple Tree. As Barbara Harris’s understudy, she replaced the actress as the various heroines in that musical for several performances. In 1969 she took over the role of Sally Bowles in the original production of John Kander’s Cabaret; a role she had previously performed in the musical's first National Tour. In 1970 she created the role of Meredith in the original Broadway cast of Tom Mankiewicz’s Georgy; a performance for which she garnered a Tony Award nomination. She soon after performed the role of Fran Kubelik in the National Tour of Burt Bacharach’s Promises, Promises. During the 1970’s and 1980’s, Hart was highly active in Regional Theatres throughout the United States and in Off-Broadway productions. She won a Joseph Jefferson Award for her portrayal of Amy in Stephen Sondheim’s 1970 production Company at the Forum Theatre in Chicago. After a 27 year absence from Broadway, she returned to portray Baroness Von Thunder and serve as the Understudy for the Old Lady in the 1997 revival of Leonard Bernstein’s Candide. Later that year she performed the role of Helene in the original cast of Frank Wildhorn’s The Scarlet Pimpernel.

Please see below for complete program details. Verdi composed Messa di Requiem in 1873. It is an epic musical setting of the Roman Catholic funeral mass, written as a memorial for the great Italian poet and novelist Alessandro Manzoni Verdi admired Manzoni, who’s works helped forge an Italian national identity. The work was premiered in 1874 at the San Marco Church in Milan during the first anniversary of Manzoni’s death. Joining the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra to perform this epic work is The Washington Chorus, under the direction of Julian Wachner. Back by popular demand, the Chorus collaborated with the BSO for last season’s finale concert of Brahms’ German Requiem. Also led by Maestra Alsop, The Baltimore Sun praised, “[Alsop] summoned considerable beauty of expression‐‐and plenty of power for the score’s few heated moments – from the BSO and the Washington Chorus.” Marin Alsop, conductor Hailed as one of the world’s leading conductors for her artistic vision and commitment to accessibility in classical music, Marin Alsop made history with her appointment as the 12th music director of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

The Utah Symphony Chorus and Utah Opera Chorus lend their voices to the work, which is an ingenious combination of opera and oratorio that ranks among Berlioz’s finest creations. In addition to the star power of Lindsey and Spyres who sings the role of Marguerite and Faust, three other operatic guest artists will join the cast, including Baritone Roderick Williams, whose talents have included appearances with all BBC orchestras, London Sinfonietta and the Philharmonia, performing Mephistopheles; and Bass- baritone Adam Cioffari, a former member of the Houston Grand Opera Studio.
