Hippo Family Club presents “Let’s make Asian friends in Shanghai” nd The 2 Asian Multilingual Youth Camp & Homestay in Shanghai The Youth Camp at Taihu Great Learning Center & Homestay Exchange Program Let’s enjoy multilingual discussions with youth from all over Asia and the world. << Program Purpose >> nd From Aug. 25, 2009 (Tuesday) to Aug. 31, 2009 (Monday), the “2 Asian Multilingual Youth Camp & Homestay” will be held around Shanghai, China. Youth from Korea, China, Japan, and other Asian countries will gather to participate in this program. Working together, youth will gain a broader perspective of the world, and learn to recognize the similarities in each other, and develop new friendships. << Asian Multilingual Youth Camp Concept >> The “Asian Multilingual Youth Camp” provides youth from all over Asia and the world with the opportunities to work together and create the future. To make fruitful experiences in the Camp, participants are expected to: 1. “Enjoy cultural differences beyond borders!” - Let’s make many friends with participants from different countries! - Regardless of what country anyone is from, let’s all talk with each other a lot! 2. “Enjoy language differences!” - Let’s experience and enjoy many different languages! - No matter what languages they are, let’s try to learn new languages from each other! - Let’s create a multilingual environment by something as simple as greeting each other in the many different languages that we learn from each other! Activities (Tentative) - Activities with multilingual songs and dances - Group activities and group discussions with mixed groups of participants from different countries - Outdoor activities such as campfire << Background >> Each Asian country is in a unique situation. Every country must respect these differences, and acknowledge each other’s worth. While being mindful of each nation’s history, we want to move on from the disputes of the past and work for a better relationship in the future. From now on, we will create the opportunity for new acquaintances, and, as a neighborhood we will also open the door for future friendships. At Hippo Family Club, we act as a family unit and create a multilingual natural acquisition immersion environment for people of all generations. Every year several thousand people take part in Hippo exchange. In addition, Hippo has youth programs in 15 countries. Since its founding, Hippo has sent over 15,000 youth overseas. We also accept more than 5,000 people every year from all over the world. Please join Asian youth and college students in this dream. We want to create an exchange program, not just between two countries, but a transnational exchange. We will respect every country’s diversity. From this idea, we want to discover the natural science viewpoint. Along with our research of language and human beings, we want to raise friendships and nurture future relationships. << Leading and Supporting Organizations >> (1) Leading Organization: Committee for the Asian Multilingual Youth Camp and Homestay in Shanghai Institute for Language Experience, Experiment & Exchange (LEX) / Hippo Family Club Ace- Shoto Bldg. 1-4-7 Shoto, Shibuya- ku, Tokyo 150-0046 Japan (2) Expected Supporting Organizations: Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan Foundation The Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS) (3) Expected Cooperating Organizations: AOTS (Shanghai), Hippo Family Club members in Shanghai, Shanghai Foreign Language University, etc. (4) Counterparts in the Respective Countries: India: AOTS (Delhi Office and Alumni) Malaysia: Ministry of Education (School Division), HIROSHIMA KELAB, Sabah State Department of Tourism, AOTS (Malaysia and Alumni) Singapore: Hippo Exchange Club, AOTS (Singapore and Alumni) Thailand: Kaset Japanese School, AOTS (Thailand and Alumni) Taiwan: Hippo Family Club Taiwan Brunei: AOTS (Brunei and Alumni), Alumni Association of the Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program Korea: Hippo Family Club Korea, Korea & Japan Association, etc. China: AOTS (Shanghai and Alumni), JTB (Shanghai branch), Shanghai Foreign Taihu Center Multilingual Activities Campfire Preparation << Program Itinerary >> From Aug. 25 (Tue.) to Aug. 31 (Mon.)
