In Sam & Cat "#SalmonCat," premiering Saturday, Nov. 9, at 8p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon, beloved comedy duo Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams (Laverne & Shirley) will reunite on screen in a scripted series for the first time in over 30 years. The following evening, a brand-new See Dad Run will bring back star Scott Baio with Happy Days creator Garry Marshall in a homecoming on their former set in "See Dad See Dad Run," premiering Sunday, Nov. 10, at 8p.m. (ET/PT) on Nick at Nite. (Photo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20131024/NY03834-a) (Photo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20131024/NY03834-b) In the brand-new Sam & Cat "#SalmonCat," Sam (Jennette McCurdy) and Cat (Ariana Grande) are ordered to rename their babysitting business because it's too similar to "Salmon Cat," a TV show from the '70s. Sam and Cat must track down the show's two original creators (played by Penny Marshall and Williams) and resolve their three decade-long feud. In the premiere of See Dad Run "See Dad See Dad Run," David's (Baio) TV dad Bernie (played by Garry Marshall) visits, but the reunion sours when he runs off and leaves his new baby. David must convince Bernie that being a real dad will be his best role. Marshall's son Scott Marshall directs. Garry Marshall, one of the biggest talents in the television industry who has made an impact with audiences around the globe, has created several of history's most memorable shows and characters, including Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley and Mork & Mindy. He has also served as writer/producer on such shows as The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Lucy Show, The Brian Keith Show, Hey, Landlord and Joanie Loves Chachi as well as The Odd Couple, for which he received four Emmy Award nominations. Also a talented feature film director, Marshall directed several hit movies including Beaches, Pretty Woman, The Princess Diaries, Flamingo Kid, Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve. On-screen, he has appeared in A League of Their Own, Murphy Brown, Never Been Kissed, Orange County and Race to Witch Mountain, among several other films. He has also lent his voice on several animated series including Pinky & The Brain, The Simpsons, Father of the Pride, Chicken Little and The Looney Tunes Show. Sam & Cat follows McCurdy (iCarly's Sam Puckett) and Grande (Victorious' Cat Valentine) and their respective iconic characters from iCarly and Victorious in a new spin-off comedy. Sam & Cat follows feisty Sam and flighty Cat as they become best friends and unlikely roommates who start a babysitting service. The series is created by award-winning executive producer Dan Schneider (iCarly, Victorious, Drake & Josh, Zoey 101). See Dad Run features David Hobbs who has spent the last decade playing the perfect father on one of TV's biggest sitcoms. But when the series ends and his wife resumes her own television career, he finds himself cast in his most challenging role to date: handling the day-to-day needs of three kids who've grown accustomed to not having him around. David soon learns that playing a dad on TV is child's play compared to the real thing. Nick at Nite is Nickelodeon's nighttime programming block that features popular hit family comedies including the Emmy Award- winning series Friends, My Wife & Kids, George Lopez, The Nanny, Yes, Dear, See Dad Run and most recently, Instant Mom. • An Analysis of Hegemonic Social Structures in "Friends"
"I'LL BE THERE FOR YOU" IF YOU ARE JUST LIKE ME: AN ANALYSIS OF HEGEMONIC SOCIAL STRUCTURES IN "FRIENDS" Lisa Marie Marshall A Dissertation Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY August 2007 Committee: Katherine A. Bradshaw, Advisor Audrey E. Ellenwood Graduate Faculty Representative James C. Foust Lynda Dee Dixon © 2007 Lisa Marshall All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT Katherine A. Bradshaw, Advisor The purpose of this dissertation is to analyze the dominant ideologies and hegemonic social constructs the television series Friends communicates in regard to friendship practices, gender roles, racial representations, and social class in order to suggest relationships between the series and social patterns in the broader culture. This dissertation describes the importance of studying television content and its relationship to media culture and social influence. The analysis included a quantitative content analysis of friendship maintenance, and a qualitative textual analysis of alternative families, gender, race, and class representations. The analysis found the characters displayed actions of selectivity, only accepting a small group of friends in their social circle based on friendship, gender, race, and social class distinctions as the six characters formed a culture that no one else was allowed to enter. iv ACKNOWLEDGMENTS This project stems from countless years of watching and appreciating television. When I was in college, a good friend told me about a series that featured six young people who discussed their lives over countless cups of coffee. Even though the series was in its seventh year at the time, I did not start to watch the show until that season.

An estimated 700 Marshallese live on the island, located about one mile south of Roi-Namur, many working in sup- port of USAKA/RTS. The island’s only source of power is portable, gas-fed gen- erators for individual buildings. The island also has no running water and the only telephones are cellular phones. An invaluable placement in the 'happiest place in the world' Optometry student Benjamin Chandra spent his summer in Denmark, the 'happiest country in the world', in order to see optometry from another perspective. Ben, a student at Aston University, participated in a two-month placement at Aarhus University Hospital (AUH). He said: "It was an invaluable learning experience and I probably saw more patients with keratoconus in these two months than one might see in 10 years on the UK High Street."
