This model is new and untested; therefore, its therapeutic effectiveness is unknown. The purpose of this study was to measure the treatment effectiveness of IPM using Bell’s Object Relations and Reality Testing Inventory, the Constructive Thinking Inventory, and the Working Alliance Inventory. Participants in the study included 19 undergraduate psychology students volunteering for extra credit and 11 clients of counseling psychology graduate students. This quasi-experimental, pretest- posttest, nonequivalent group study involved 9 sessions of IPM for the treatment group and 9 classes in a general psychology course for the comparison group. An analysis of covariance using the pre-post testing of object relations and reality testing, productive and unproductive thinking, and working alliance measured changes in these constructs and determined the therapeutic effectiveness of IPM. Results revealed that there were no differences between the experimental and comparison groups. Although no significant differences were demonstrated when comparing pre and post testing, this study demonstrated that 9 sessions of IPM did not harm those who underwent the treatment; this finding is positive given the need for further research to potentially validate the IPM as a new and effective integrative model for psychotherapy. It is recommended that a similar study be repeated with more seasoned IPM therapists, a longer treatment period, and the focus of change on client symptoms. He further explains that most emotional problems can be solved by taking a more realistic, less emotional look at people, places and things which bother us. In his work with depressed and suicidal patients, he discovered they invariably exhibited patterns of automatic negative thinking that appeared spontaneously. The patients appeared to see worst-case scenarios in everything, as if they were encoded in the software of their minds. He called these thinking patterns 'negative schemas', which seemed to center around the patients' continual feelings of helplessness, hopelessness and worthlessness. They had low self-esteem, felt nobody loved or cared for them, feared tragedies would occur in the future and often felt life itself was not worth living. Beck explored the patients' negativity about themselves, others, the future and life in general and would ask them if they could provide factual proof to support their negative position. In other words, could they prove their lives were meaningless and would always be that way? In most cases, the patients could only say they felt that way because things had always gone wrong for them in the past.

A synthesis of Jungian and existential therapies overcomes this trend by demonstrating how two theories may be meaningfully integrated The consolidation of the shared ideas among these theories reveals a notion of "authentic wholeness' that may be able to stand on its own as a therapeutic objective. Reviews of both analytical and existential psychology are given. Differences between the two are discussed, and possible reconciliation are offered. After noting common elements in these shared approaches to psychotherapy, a hypothetical therapy based in authentic wholeness is explored.     CAE Theory in the Practice of Psychotherapy Muay owe, M.. There are striking discrepancies between theory and practice in psychother- apy. The therapist's theoretical assumptions about the nature and origin of emotional illness serve as a blueprint that guides his thinking and actions during psychotherapy. This has always been so, even though "theory" and " therapeutic method" have not always been clearly defined. Primitive medi- cine men who believed that emotional illness was the result of evil spirits had some kind of theoretical notions about the evil spirits that guided their therapeutic method as they attempted to free the person of the spirits. I believe that theory is important now even though it might be difficult to define the specific connections between theory and practice. I have spent almost three decades on clinical research in psychotherapy. A major part of my effort has gone toward clarifying theory and also toward developing therapeutic approaches consistent with the theory. I did this in the belief it would add to knowledge and provide better structure for research. A secondary gain has been an improvement in the predictability and outcome of therapy as the therapeutic method has come into closer proximity with the theory. Here I shall first present ideas about the lack of clarity between theory and practice in all kinds of psychotherapy; in the second section I will deal specifically with family therapy. In discussing my own Family Systems theory, certain parts will be presented almost as previ- ously published (1,2). Other parts will be modified slightly, and some new concepts will be added.

He has been labeled an atheist and God-intoxicated man, as well as a determinist and pantheist, which I perceive to be dichotomies. The problem, as I see it, is that Spinoza’s philosophy and concept of God has mainly been interpreted through a dualistic mind-set, traditional to philosophers and theologians of the West, but Spinoza has a monistic worldview, and this has consequences in regards to the comprehension of what Spinoza’s concept of God entails and what a relationship “with” God implies . The thesis methodology is constructive because the purpose is to provide a theoretical foundation that has the potential to be applied in dialogues about God between the vast varieties of believers and non-believers alike, as well as across boundaries of contradicting worldviews and academic disciplines, and this focus on functionalism is inspired by a theory that calls for the furthering of inter-disciplinary dialogue between the subject areas philosophy of religion and theology specifically. My personal worldview is that there might well be One Substance, God or Nature, but that does not necessarily mean that there is one truth that is valid, but rather that all truth claims may be of value.

Or about science and philosophy, and how they are related. Or were, in a particular time and place. At least, that is the general area that the following narrative will explore, I hope with sufficient subtlety. The matter is rendered non-transparent by the fact that that the conclusions one draws with regard to such questions are, in part, matters of discretionary perspective – as I will try to demonstrate. My specific historical focus will be on the propagation of a complex intellectual tradition concerned with human sensation, perception, and mental function in early nineteenth century Britain. Not only philosophical opinion, but all aspects of British intellectual – and practical – life, were in the process of significant transformation during this time. This cultural flux further confuses recovery of the situated significance of the intellectual tradition I am investigating. The study of the mind not only was influenced by a set of broad social shifts, but it also participated in them fully as both stimulus to and recipient of changing conditions. One indication of this is simply the variety of terms used to identify the ‘philosophy of mind’ as an intellectual enterprise in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.1 But the issue goes far deeper into the fluid constitutive features of the enterprise - including associated conceptual systems, methods, intentions of practitioners, and institutional affiliations. Cognitive distortions Scale, (Qurashi, 2016) and the Academic Stress Scale (Hussain,2015) were used to assess the major variables of the study. The study adopted a descriptive design to test the correlation between variables. The results showed that teachers of the intermediate stage before and during admitting actual work have moderate cognitive distortions and academic stress level. Analysis of variance showed that no statistically significant difference in cognitive distortions attributed to specialization and that experience was not a significant factor.

    Benefits, Limitations, and Potential Harm in Psychodrama (Training) © Copyright 2005, 2008, 2010, 2013, 2016 Rob Pramann, PhD, ABPP (Group Psychology) CCCU Training in Psychodrama, Sociometry, and Group Psychotherapy This article began in 2005 in response to a new question posed by the Utah chapter of NASW on their application for CEU endorsement. “If any speaker or session is presenting a fairly new, non-traditional or alternative approach, please describe the limitations, risks and/or benefits of the methods taught.” After documenting how Psychodrama is not a fairly new, non-traditional or alternative approach I wrote the following. I have made minor updates to it several times since. As a result of the encouragement, endorsement, and submission of it by a colleague it is listed in the online bibliography of psychodrama http://pdbib.org/. It is relevant to my approach to the education/training/supervision of Group Psychologists and the delivery of Group Psychology services. It is not a surprise that questions would be raised about the benefits, limitations, and potential harm of Psychodrama. J.L. Moreno (1989 – 1974) first conducted a psychodramatic session on April 1, 1921. It was but the next step in the evolution of his philosophical and theological interests. His approach continued to evolve during his lifetime. To him, creativity and (responsible) spontaneity were central. He never wrote a systematic overview of his approach and often mixed autobiographical and poetic material in with his discussion of his approach. He was a colorful figure and not afraid of controversy (Blatner, 2000). He was a prolific writer and seminal thinker.
