Venue The meeting will be held in the Directorate Conference Room at the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) Headquarters, 134A Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui Hong Kong. Please be reminded that the back gate of HKO will only be open in the morning (8:00-9:00 a.m.) and during lunch hour (12:30-13:30 p.m.). Currency The unit of the currency is Hong Kong Dollar. Coins are in denominations of 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1, 2, 5 and 10. Bank notes of 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000 are in circulation. The exchange rate against US dollar is approximately HKD 7.85 to USD 1. Major credit cards (VISA and MasterCard) are widely accepted in most shops for major purchases, some also accept American Express. ATM machines are also available in Tsim Sha Tsui. 6. The WPI team surveyed 16 waterfront districts, four in-depth, assessing their walkability using a tool created by the research team and conducted preference surveys to understand the perceptions of Hong Kong pedestrians. Because pedestrians value the shortest, safest, least-crowded, and easiest to navigate routes, this study found that confusing routes, unsafe or indirect connections, and a lack of amenities detract from the walkability in Hong Kong. Winter Season (December - March) is the most relaxing and comfortable time to go to Hong Kong but besides the weather, there's little else to do since the "Sale Season" occurs during Summer. There are some sales during Christmas & Chinese New Year but 90% of the clothes are for winter. Hong Kong can get very foggy during winter, as such, visit to the Peak is a hit-or-miss affair. A foggy bird's eye view of HK isn't really nice. Summer Season (May - October) is similar to Manila's weather, very hot but moving around in Hong Kong can get extra uncomfortable because of the high humidity which gives the "sticky" feeling. Hong Kong's rainy season also falls on their summer, July & August has the highest rainfall count and the typhoons also arrive in these months. The Sale / Shopping Festival is from the start of July to the start of September. If the sky is clear, the view from the Peak is great. Avoid going to Hong Kong when there are large-scale exhibitions or ongoing tournaments like the Hong Kong Sevens Rugby Tournament because hotel prices will be significantly higher.
