Schweik and Team Introduce Invasive Species App at Regional Natural History Conference Associate Professor Charles Schweik (environmental conservation and public policy) and a team that has worked on the Outsmart Invasive Species project will speak at the Northeast Natural History Conference this weekend in Springfield, Mass. The team will introduce workshop participants to the Outsmart app, which allows smartphone users to identify and report invasive species. Schweik is collaborating on the USDA­funded project with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). The presenting team includes Jennifer Fish, director of DCR's Service Forestry program in Amherst; three graduate students from the UMass Environmental Conservation Department; and Professor John Finn (environmental conservation).

Gano Talks Up Public Engagement in Technology Assessment at Czech Conference CPPA lecturer Gretchen Gano presented a poster titled "A Distributed, Collaborative 21st Century Approach to Technology Assessment: From Concept to Practice" at a conference last month in Prague sponsored by the Technology Centre of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis.
