Fa-File-Pdf Volume 3D Proposed Record of Protected Structures DRAFT LIMERICK DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2022-2028 Volume 3D Proposed Record of Protected Structures Cappamore/Kilmallock Municipal District June 2021 Contents 1.0 Introduction to the Record of Protected Structures (RPS) .................................. 2 2.0 Record of Protected Structures Cappamore Kilmallock Municipal District ......... 3 1 1.0 Introduction to the Record of Protected Structures (RPS) Limerick City & County Council is obliged to compile and maintain a Record of Protected Structures (RPS) under the provisions of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended). A Protected Structure, unless otherwise stated, includes the interior of the structure, the land lying within the curtilage of the structure, and other structures lying within that curtilage and their interiors. The protection also extends to boundary treatments. The proposed RPS contained within Draft Limerick Development Plan 2022 - 2028 Plan represents a varied cross section of the built heritage of Limerick. The RPS is a dynamic record, subject to revision and addition. Sometimes, ambiguities in the address and name of the buildings can make it unclear whether a structure is included on the RPS. Where there is uncertainty you should contact the Conservation Officer. The Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht is responsible for carrying out surveys of the architectural heritage on a county-by-county basis. Following the publication of the NIAH for Limerick City and County, and any subsequent Ministerial recommendations, the Council will consider further amendments to the Record of Protected Structures. The NIAH survey may be consulted online at buildingsofireland.ie There are 511 structures listed as Protected Structures in the Cappamore Kilmallock Municipal District. The NIAH recommends an additional 275 structures to be listed on the Record of Protected Structures. The Council will seek to assess and add these structures if appropriate within the lifetime of this plan. Useful resources when undertaking works on Protected Structures and within their curtilage can be found the planning leaflets series available on-line on opr.ie, the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage Advice Series on buildingsofireland.ie, and the advice and guidance on traditional building skills on heritagecouncil.ie For objectives in relation to Protected Structures and NIAH recommended structures refer to Section 5.5.2 Architectural Heritage in Chapter 5 Environment and Heritage, Volume 1 Written Statement, and for guidance on works refer to Section 11.10.2 Architectural Heritage – Protected Structures in Chapter 11 Development Management Standards, Volume 1 Written Statement. 2 2.0 Record of Protected Structures Cappamore Kilmallock Municipal District 3 RPS Reg No. NIAH Reg No. Building Name Address description Photo 1 21901425 Abington Church Abington, Murroe Church of Ireland Medieval Site‐ Remains of 2 21901427 Abbey Owney Abington, Murroe Cistercian Foundation Mausoleum 3 21901423 Mausoleum Abington, Murroe Abington/Dromelia Stone bridge with 4 21901428 Bridge gh, Murroe 6 arches 4 RPS Reg No. NIAH Reg No. Building Name Address description Photo Abington/Rath, Stone bridge with 5 Bridge None Murroe 3 arches Country House 10 21905709 Massey Lodge Anglesborough with Anglesborough/Bal 11 21905707 Ballymahony Bridge lyfauskeen, Bridge Anglesborough 12 Record oF Monument Annagh Church Annagh, Lisnagry Medieval Site and Places 5 RPS Reg No. NIAH Reg No. Building Name Address description Photo Thatched NONE 13 'Cooke's' Annagh, Lisnagry Dwelling 14 21900629 Annagh Bridge Annagh, Lisnagry Bridge Thatched 16 'McCabe's' Annagh, Galbally NONE Dwelling Hanrahan's Ardnamoher, 20 21905001 Thatched Building Thatched House Galbally 6 RPS Reg No. NIAH Reg No. Building Name Address description Photo 23 21813062 Ash Hill Towers Ash Hill, Kilmallock Country House Record of Monument Country House 24 Not named Ash Hill, Kilmallock and Places Feature 25 21900639 Ashroe Ashroe, Murroe Country House 2100638 26 Clare Bridge Ashroe, Murroe Bridge 7 RPS Reg No. NIAH Reg No. Building Name Address description Photo Athlacca North‐ 28 21903903 Athlacca Bridge Coolboy‐ Bridge Rathcannon, Bruff Athlacca South, 29 Glebe House Country House NONE Bruff Athlacca South, 30 21903906 Kilbroney Church Medieval Site Bruff 34 Baggotstown House Baggotstown, Bruff Country House 21904002 8 RPS Reg No. NIAH Reg No. Building Name Address description Photo Ballinanima Thatched 36 NONE 'Moloney's' (Darcy), Kilfinnane Dwelling Ballincrana, Thatched 37 'Herbert's' Kilmallock Dwelling NONE Ballincarroona, Thatched NONE 38 'Carroll's' Effin Dwelling Ballinculloo, 39 21903914 'O'Neill's' Thatched Building Athlacca, Bruff 9 RPS Reg No. NIAH Reg No. Building Name Address description Photo Thatched 41 'Lynch's' Balline, Kilmallock 2190411 Dwelling St.Mary's Ballingaddy North, Roman Catholic 43 21904805 R.C.Church Kilmallock Church Ballingaddy North, 44 Ballingaddy Church Medieval Site 21904806 Kilmallock St.Patrick's Catholic Ballingarry, Roman Catholic 48 21904906 Ch. • Round About the County of Limerick
ROUND ABOUT THE COUNTY OF LIMERICK: BY REV. JAMES DOW'D, A.B., AUTHOR OF "LIMERICK AXD ITS SIEGES." Zfnterick : G. McKERN & SONS, PUBLISHERS. PREFACE. INasking my readers to accompany me on an Historical and Archzological Tour Round About the County of L~merick,I have consulted their convenience by grouping events around the places brought under notice. The arrangement may lead to occasional repetition, and the narrative may sometimes be left incomplete, to bf resumed and finished elsewhere. But, on the o ?r hand, it possesses the undoubted advantage of fixlng the % FRINTED BY attention of the reader upon the events and occur- e. W'KERN AND SONS, LINERICK. rences which render the places visited memorable. This little work 1s intended to be, as far as possible, a history of those places in the County of Limerick about which there is something to be told. The length of time covered ranges from the pre-historic period almost up to the present. Around the hill of Knockainy linger memories of the last remnants , of an extinct race. The waters of Lough Gur and the adjacent swamps y~eldup remains of animals no longer to be found in th~scountry. The same district preserves the rude memorials of men of the Stone Age whose cromlechs, circles and pillar stones have survived all the changes and chances of the inter- vening centuries. The vigorous heathenism of the early Celts has bequeathed the names of its last heroes to several of the more noticeable physical features of the county, To them succeeded the VI.

  • The List of Church of Ireland Parish Registers
THE LIST of CHURCH OF IRELAND PARISH REGISTERS A Colour-coded Resource Accounting For What Survives; Where It Is; & With Additional Information of Copies, Transcripts and Online Indexes SEPTEMBER 2021 The List of Parish Registers The List of Church of Ireland Parish Registers was originally compiled in-house for the Public Record Office of Ireland (PROI), now the National Archives of Ireland (NAI), by Miss Margaret Griffith (1911-2001) Deputy Keeper of the PROI during the 1950s. Griffith’s original list (which was titled the Table of Parochial Records and Copies) was based on inventories returned by the parochial officers about the year 1875/6, and thereafter corrected in the light of subsequent events - most particularly the tragic destruction of the PROI in 1922 when over 500 collections were destroyed. A table showing the position before 1922 had been published in July 1891 as an appendix to the 23rd Report of the Deputy Keeper of the Public Records Office of Ireland. In the light of the 1922 fire, the list changed dramatically – the large numbers of collections underlined indicated that they had been destroyed by fire in 1922. The List has been updated regularly since 1984, when PROI agreed that the RCB Library should be the place of deposit for Church of Ireland registers. Under the tenure of Dr Raymond Refaussé, the Church’s first professional archivist, the work of gathering in registers and other local records from local custody was carried out in earnest and today the RCB Library’s parish collections number 1,114. The Library is also responsible for the care of registers that remain in local custody, although until they are transferred it is difficult to ascertain exactly what dates are covered.
