I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters and they also do not speak Czech. I have been able to relearn my Czech, but it is very limited. When I started school in 1946 I could speak only Czech, but I went to Catholic School and the nunns taught us English and Czech Both. My grandmothers both could only speak Czech, one died in 1951 and the other died in 1974. I was able to talk to them in Czech but after they died I stopped using the Czech language and lost my Czech tongue. Some of the language is now comming back. 11. Czech Republic is the country where my ancestors were born and for whatever reason came to America for a better life. I admire their courage for taking such a long journey to an unknown land and suffered so much to give us a good life. I will alway consider CR as the home of my roots. I think it is a very beautiful country and the people are all so kind to us. In most of the small towns especially the common people are the ones I love the most. We have many Czech in America that are very successful. There are many in public life and serve the country.
