SPEEDNEWS 10TH ANNUAL AVIATION INDUSTRY SUPPLIERS CONFERENCE IN TOULOUSE Fabrice Brégier, Chief Operating Officer • Airbus Fabrice Brégier is Chief Operating Officer of Airbus and a Member of the EADS Executive Committee. Prior to assuming this position, he was President and CEO of Eurocopter since 2003 and became a Member of the EADS Executive Committee as Head of EADS' Eurocopter Division in June 2005. Mr. Brégier began his career in 1983 as a test engineer at Creys-Malville nuclear power station and became sales manager at Pechiney (Japan) in 1984. He joined the DRIRE Alsace (Ministry of Industry) in 1986 before being appointed Director of Economic and Financial Affairs with the Ministry of Agriculture in 1989. In 1993, Mr. Brégier joined Matra Défense as Chairman of the Apache MAW GIE and Chairman of the Eurodrone GIE before he was named Director of Stand-Off activities in what had become Matra BAe Dynamics. From 1998, Mr. Brégier served as CEO of Matra BAe Dynamics. He was appointed CEO of MBDA, the newly created European Missile Systems Company in 2001 by Aerospatiale Matra, British Aerospace and Finmeccanica. Mr. Brégier graduated from Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole des Mines. Patrick Baudis, Head of Airline Marketing • Airbus Patrick Baudis is Head of Airline Marketing at Airbus. Mr. Baudis joined Airbus Marketing department in 1997 as Senior Analyst. In 2000, he became Marketing Director for Middle-East and North Africa, covering marketing activities and campaigns from Morocco to Indonesia. He then led the Market Development team within Marketing, focusing on campaign strategies and market trends for Airbus Commercial. Before joining Airbus, he was Marketing Manager in an aviation consulting and brokerage company, trading aircraft between airlines. Stephen Ford, Director-Product Marketing • Boeing Commercial Airplanes Stephen (Steve) Ford joined Product Marketing as Regional Director in 1992. His responsibilities include assisting Boeing airplane customers in their technical evaluation and analysis of the Boeing fleet. He provides market analysis, and customer perspective for internal Boeing Product Development activity. He also provides input and direction for development of Boeing Product Marketing strategies and promotional materials. His prior Boeing assignments include two years in Management Control Systems Audit at the Corporate level, five years in 737/757 Product Development aerodynamic configuration development and performance analysis, eight years in 757 aerodynamic configuration development and certification. Mr. Ford holds a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Aerospace Engineering from Iowa State University. He has done graduate work at the University of Washington in Engineering and at Seattle University in Business. Sam Cherry, Dir.-Prog. Planning, Dev. & Customer Requirements • Bombardier Commercial Aircraft Sam Cherry is Director of Program Planning, Development & Customer Requirements for the Commercial Aircraft Division of Bombardier Aerospace. He has been with Bombardier Aerospace for 24 years. Mr. Cherry joined Short Brothers PLC in Belfast, Northern Ireland, as a design Engineer within future projects. Following acquisition of Shorts by Bombardier, he joined and became Manager of the newly formed Corporate Marketing department, responsible for Strategy, Business Development and Marketing. He moved to Montreal in 2001 to work in Product Line Strategy for Business Aircraft and in 2003 became the Business Aircraft representative within Strategy and Business Development at group level. Within this role, he acted as M136 (L85) Project Lead, overseeing the business case development up to Board approval. More recently, Mr. Cherry was part of the Learjet 85 leadership team acting as Program Director, German Base Group. He joined the company in 1999 as a sales engineering manager. Prior to that, he spent 27 years with a major Brazilian airline, gaining extensive experience in a variety of areas, including flight operations engineering, crew scheduling, fleet planning, aircraft rotation, tariffs and pricing, sales channels development, code-sharing agreements, and commercial planning. Mr. Chiessi holds an Aeronautical Engineering undergraduate degree and a graduate degree in Transportation Sciences. Mario Formica, Vice President, Marketing • ATR Mario Formica leads the ATR team that is responsible for Airline and Product Marketing, Competition, and Strategic Marketing. He provides support services to sales strategies and activities for the ATR family of products. He began his career at Alenia Aeronautica Naples in 1984 as an airline analyst in the Marketing Department. He moved to ATR in 1989, and after spending four years in various positions in the Sales & Commercial Department, he was promoted to Director, Sales Engineering in 1993. Between 1995 and 1998 he was VP of the Technical Sales Division with direct involvement in major ATR sales campaigns, heading a multi-national AI(R) team. Mr. Formica holds a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and is a lecturer at the MBA Aerospace ESCT and Maître de Conférence at IAE Institut in Toulouse, in the Strategy Department. He has been a Member of the Board of the European Regional Airline Association for three years. Fabienne Lacorre, General Manager-Product Strategy and Market • CFM International Fabienne Lacorre has been head of the Snecma Product Strategy and Market Department since December 2008. After joining Snecma in 1987 as an aerodynamics engineer, Ms. Lacorre held a series of positions in engineering, ranging from turbine design for CFM to advanced commercial design projects. Leading the Propulsion System Integration Division enabled her to acquire a wide range of technical skills from turbomachines to systems and to strengthen the links between engine manufacturers and airframers. Ms. Lacorre is a graduate of ENSEEIHT (Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Electrotechnique, d’Electronique, d’Informatique, d’Hydraulique et des Télécommunications). Paolo Revelli Beaumont, SVP, Commercial • SuperJet International Paolo Revelli Beaumont is a senior executive at Superjet International, the joint venture between Alenia Aeronautica (Finmeccanica group) and Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (Sukhoi Holding) to promote the sales and provide customer support to the SuperJet aircraft family. Mr. Beaumont joined the aeronautical industry in 1986 with ATR where he was responsible for marketing and sales financing and structure for nearly ten years. From 1998 to 2004, he was SVP Asset Management and then SVP Commercial of ATR, a joint venture between Alenia and EADS. After that, until 2007, he was Deputy General Manager of NHIndustries, a joint venture company between Agusta Westland and Eurocopter in charge of the program management of the NH90 helicopter. Mr. Beaumont began his career with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Mexico and then moved to the Agip Group in Rome. He has a Master's degree in International Economics from Turin and Cambridge Universities. Saia, VP-Next Generation Product Family • Pratt & Whitney Robert Saia began his career with Pratt & Whitney in 1973. He was in charge of the P&W office in Toulouse for three years. While in Engineering, he was instrumental in establishing the Systems Integration structure currently employed at Pratt & Whitney for new program development. He led the Commercial Engines Marketing Group starting in 1997. He later headed the Propulsion Systems Analysis group responsible for all engine performance, operability and electronic digital controls. He joined Engine Alliance, a joint venture launched with General Electric, in October 2000 to develop and sell the GP7200 series for the Airbus A380 airplane family. He was Executive Vice President of the Engine Alliance and Vice President of P&W’s GP7000 Program. In February 2006, he was appointed Vice President, Commercial Development Programs. Later that year, Bob was appointed Vice President, Next Generation Product Family. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southeastern Massachusetts University and a Master’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Steve Smith, Vice President Business Development & Strategy • GKN Aerospace Steve Smith was appointed to the role of Vice president Business Development & Strategy in June of this year. He is responsible for the strategic planning, customer relationship management and business development across the European structures division. Prior to this assignment he was Vice President of Commercial for Aerostructures North America, where he was responsible for major commercial negotiations across the Division. During his 5 year secondment Steve successfully negotiated several major new contracts including the Hondajet all composite Fuselage, The GEnx Composite Fan Case and the Boeing 787 Seat Tracks.
