Good afternoon, Fraser Coast Regional Council hit new lows in community communication when a Councillor Community Consultation was carried out outside the Supermarket in Tiaro this morning, Thursday 18.9.14. Residents of the small town discovered the community consultation was taking place when they arrived to get their daily newspaper or collect their mail after 9 am. Those who went prior to this, missed out. Some were very quick to raise the issues closest to their hearts, the increases in their rates especially commercial/industrial!! However, I have checked the media releases on the Council web page, the“community chat” key on their web page, Gundiah Ga- zette one of the local newsletters, and no where any comment on being in Tiaro, Thursday 18th September. But to cap it off, there was a secret official opening of the Turtle next to the Visitor Information Centre. 3 members from Tiaro & District Landcare were present, and F.C.R.C. staff & Councillors. Despite being told there was nothing official going on, there were sandwiches and juice for the few!! What a snub to our community. Regards, Linda Harris, Tiaro On Community Values & Love Thy Neighbour To Anonymous, Thanks for an excellent opportunity to get the truth out. We have travelled; the signs etc at Bauple are adequate. You are missing THE VITAL POINT; both areas are for FULLY SELF CONTAINED RV’s. You should not need “facilities”! Need more? Stay at a motel or van park. Distance from RV area to facil- ities – As above. You want to see the world? Why have problems with a 100m stroll? We prefer Rossendale Rest Area. We would have to see this toilet paper to believe it. We drive past there most days; we would notice. Everyone wants RV dollars - RV owners shop at ALDI. If a busi- ness needs RV dollars it must attract tourists. Previous RV site in Bauple – None. Conflicts – None. Want tranquil settings? – go to Rossendale. FCRC allowed temporary RV camping for fully self contained RV’s in the Rec Ground carpark. When RV Camp area for fully self contained RV’s opened in Bauple Centre on 22/08/2012 the Rec Ground carpark was closed to all Camping. RV issue over. Country hospitality - get out more. Meeting times advertised in Gundiah Gazette, Bauple Bulletin. People shutting business down – odd; actually only the owner can do that. Support change and local business – if good yes, but if not then go elsewhere, freedom of choice. Small community, people keep to themselves; things move at leisurely pace here. There are always rumours – ignore it, rise above it. “Love thy Neighbour” - “living by example” [is the] best approach. G & E North 19/09/14 To Colin Rogers, We are wondering what meeting [you referred to]? What happened to“good old values” – life happened, chang- ing roles of everyone in society, so many things, where to start? GOOTCHIE EARTHMOVING We are concerned you don’t mention truth or respect as being important aspects of community life.
